On cars.
My mate uses engine flushing oil at every oil change on his Beemer 330.
My boy has a Fiat Punto and I had to top ip his oil snd noticed a lot of Black goo in the filler cap and on components inside, I'm not sure if it was the rocker assembly or a plate just inside but I could scrape a thick tarry mess of it. Now I'm thinking of flushing it a few times but I heard that diesel did the same job. I thought a few flushes with diesel yhen use a flushing oil.
Anyone know if this is a good or a bad thing to do?

Which oil was used and at what change intervals?
City riding mostly?
A safer, more fool-proof alternative would be to use good full synthetic oil, pour it in, then change it after 5000 miles with new full synthetic car oil. Then keep changing at 10 k miles.

He's only had the car a little while and was serviced before he got it, probably the cheapest oil they could find. And we're not sure on the service interval either.
I wanted to flush it a few times first to try and get most of the crud out and then put in a good quality full synthetic.
