Yes they can (https://www.gov.uk/stopped-by-police-while-driving-your-rights/when-the-police-can-seize-your-vehicle)
5. When the police can seize your vehicle
The police can seize a vehicle if they think it’s being used in a way that causes alarm, harassment or distress (eg careless or inconsiderate driving).

totaly agree, how come they can do that when you've not been convicted of any offence (yet) and on the same day it's taken 10 years and 10s of million pounds to put Abu Qutada one of the most dangerous men in the world on a plane?

OHHHH GAWD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE TELL ME NO KITTENS WERE KILLED! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(
:rollin :rollin :rollin

Reminds me of the coppers we saw on the lofo ride out today :-(. Some lads were going to have a bad day.
u roll the dice (and hope you don't get caught) I guess.

Wheelies at 110? Hats off to ya fella! Anyone that rides a bike that hasnt tried wheelieing it at least once in their life is either lying or a girl. Its like being given a big red button and told not to push it.
I dont see how crushing a perfectly good bike solves anything though, nothing wrong with the bike, its the rider that has to be punished. Its like being treated like a naughty schoolkid... if you cant play nicely I will take away your action man. Pathetic.
Oh well, at least I will be able to sleep easier in my bed tonight knowing that the world is a safer place. Never mind about the kittens, IS NOBODY THINKING OF THE CHILDREN!?!?!!!

Don't say things like that - Kim Il Jong has one of those... :eek

To take something without the owners consent.......
Isn't that the definition of theft ?
-
not saying he shouldnt have done it. its his bike his license but to do it were cops are is stupid, and he has to accept the consequenses nobody to blame is there???and yes i have done all the stupid things you can do on a bike but after 34 years of riding you get a sense of worth
ie like is it worth ye license or ye bike ????? or even someones life.
obviously most of you mid life crisis bikers or born again bikers seem to think so :eek :eek :eek

Different biker, different situation, but same idea

Too right, the bloody poof, he should have been doing at least 150 in this day and age, that will teach him to mince around at 110

Hell yeah in the right time and place it makes you look cool as foc!
And I for one am proud of my midlife crisis. It started when I was at school and shows no sign of stopping yet... popped my 1st wheelie on an old cd175 my mates and I got to rag about the local pits when I was 14 (by accident lol) and have attempted it on every single bike I've owned since, some were more successful than others.
Sure, I wouldnt do it in stupid places, town centers, near pedestrians etc, but whats the point of having a bike if you dont have fun on it? Might as well give up, sell it and buy a yaris and a cardigan!

I must be a girl becuase i've never tried or have any intention to try popping a wheely, i know what will happen, over the back.
Now if i could try a stoppie, just a little one, does that count.

thats the point you wouldnt do it i stupid places but even if you were caught by the bill on the off chance then that one wheelie is worth your license or bike??? foc me ye bike cant be worth jack shit then cos i know i would be gutted to lose mine and out of the 1000+ bikers i know none of them would trade their license or bike for a wheelie
its not worth our insurance policies increasing and its not worth antagonising the government into making bike tests for our kids n grand kids even harder and more expensive and and deffo not worth the gov falling in with euro bike rules and fucking us all over cos thats what all this bad press does eventually
-
Never tried a wheelie, why would I?
-
Cos its bloody good fun, if youve never tried it, youll never know!!!
-
Why wouldnt you? ;)
Dont get me wrong, I dont spend all my time hooning about on the back wheel, but on an empty road or dirttrack its a buzz. Kinda like blipping the throttle under a bridge, doing a stoppie, sliding the back wheel, dragging a knee or snapping the throttle shut to get a pop... its a giggle and FUN! After all, aint that why you ride a bike? It sure is the reason I jump onto the saddle.
-
was out on the bike today, got a warning of camera ahead, gave it a wave as I passed it, didn't notice the next one a mile or so up the road, this aint cricket? so now it's a 14 day wait again, think I'll get a ped, a verry slow one?
-
Thats just not playing fair :rolleyes :rollin
For anyone that doesnt see the point of wheelies....

Did my first wheely about a month ago. Just had a clutch replacement and was told by my mechanic - now don't wheely it - wondered why he had said that then found out upon pinning the throttle. But I'm not going to make a habit of it as dry clutches burn out way too easily. At least I can tick that box and move on to stoppies now. :lol
-
dont know why you all spring to the blokes defence simply because he rides a bike..?
he could be an absolute nobber who deserves taking off the road. :\
For sure he aint clever cos he got caught...but wheelying is showing off, so its pointless if you are on yer own.Ibso facto its risky if theres plenty of witnesses...and stupidity if cops are around... :rolleyes
Ones own choice for sure, but not necessarily a praiseworthy hero in my book...
