Title: Front fairing frame bracket.
Post by: noggythenog on 04 July 2013, 08:45:55 am
Well a combination of ratcheting down tightly with handlebar straps & about 500 pot holes later & ive gone & snapped the little fairing bracket off where it joins the frame :o .

Just checking what options i have, should i get someone to weld it back together or is there any alternative way of attaching it on?.

Cheers

Could tig weld it but that part of the frame will need taking back to bare metal plus some surrounding paint could blister. Also you'd need to take the tank off, plastics etc and drain the carbs(safety first!). An easier idea might be just to clamp it on and araldite it with the blue tube stuff(the long cure stuff not rapid). Very strong once set and wont need much to hold it in place, maybe try first..

You could try JB Weld. I have used it on a few occasions and it is amazing stuff.

Cheers guys

Ive unscrewed the remaining part & i just did 260 miles with no noticeable rattling so im glad i dont need it there but it's still annoying having a defect so i might give one o these a try.

Thanks
