Well that definitely doesn't look like an unbiased source!

Funny how you don't often read the stories on the other way around either, like the elderly Muslim man who was hacked to death with a machete in Birmingham by a couple of white lads a couple weeks back.

Firstly, it's no a beheading.  Secondly, what has the fact he was a muslim got to do with it?  It was probably a burglary gone wrong or something like that.

If a Christian did it, would the headline read "Christian beheads elderly man"? No, me thinks not.

Hmm, an interesting one, a hideous crime regardless of who did it & whilst im sure anyone is capable of violence, even Christians :eek ..........
lets be honest with ourselves, throat cutting is pretty much associated with islamic extremists isnt it & i think slim has made an educated assumption here & ok like watching some dodgy CSI series the most obvious answer isnt always the case i would suggest that in most cases the obvious assumption is the truth.
dress it up as you like and put some pretty nipple tassles on it but it sounds pretty focin suspicious to me! :( , gotta say though the website also looks a little suspect.

Don't bet on it. The press hates us at the moment - especially Catholics (not an excuse to start an anti catholic flame, please), any chance to smear us will gleefully leaped on by the press.

Last time I looked, Christians hadn't blown up planes, trains (the IRA were acting on political, not religious reasons - just sayin') or buildings. They hadn't tried to threaten the civilised world with terror. And they aren't trying to impose a form of brutal law (as many Muslims would like to with Sharia).

Um, just playing devils advocate here, but I believe that in afganistan 'christians' (or soldiers fighting under a christian ruler - blair, obama etc) have blown up all sorts of shit... villages, hospitals, schools.

Just sayin.

True. but that's the joy of politics for you. Those Christians (as many soldiers undoubtably are) are following political orders, not doing it out of religious motivation. Blair's christianity extended to about the "h" of the word when he wrote it on the last census. And many Americans are getting very angry at how pro-Muslim Obama is. Their motivation for being in Afghanistan is not religious either, but political and financial.

If the West had a religious Crusade type war against the Muslims, then there would be a very, very large crater where Iran is. Or where ever the planes were when they ran out of fuel, seeing as the Muslims wouldn't sell oil to us if we were bombing them.

Back to your point though: Do those Christian soliders yell: "God is great!", or similar phrases when carrying out orders? Do Islamic terrorists?

I think not.

Except for the small matter of a few hundred years of burning heretics and of course the crusades against islam. It would be fair to say that you christians started it.
I'm not a religious person although I do occasionally attend the local Quaker house to hear some views. You don't need a God to do good things and live a virtuous life. So why invent and worship one?

Its hard to tell fact from fiction on these web sites. Whether its true or not its succeeding in stiring up shit among people that would get along well if there was no religion. Anyway if god exists why did he make me an atheist. Youve only got to look at the world and see how much wrong there is. I would never worship any god that says its a good idea to kill and maime.Rant over.

you christians started it.

I was expecting a post like this.

At no point did I claim that Christians were perfect - we aren't, not by a long shot.

However, that's no excuse for the current attack on Western society the Muslims are inflicting on us now. It's not about Islam attacking Christianity (hell, even today's society does that), but Islam attacking our society through acts of terror - a different ball game.

As for the racism point Lawrence made - in Saudi, Iran and other very Muslim countries, the mere possession of a bible is a crime. There are people on Death Row in Pakistan - for being Christian. Do we give Muslims that kind of treatment here? No we don't. I think a little bit of anger and resentment against those who refuse  - violently - to integrate into our society is understandable, if not desirable.

As for bri h's point - I can tell you don't like religion in general, fair enough. I would argue that even without religion, there would still be nutters trying to stir things up. I heavily doubt people "would all get along without religion". Rant over.

Hello chris, of couse your right some people dont need religion to be arseholes. But whether its convenience or something else religion is the biggest cause of conflict in my lifetime. The reason that northern Ireland had "politcal" conflict was because catholics were not treated the same as protestants. however well qualified or skilled a protestant would allways get the better jobs ahead of a catholic.I think you know better than me but im sure some of the problems go back as far as cromwells protestants mistreating catholics and im sure visa versa. Either way without religion extremeists would have to work a bit harder to stir up trouble. New rant just begun.

Bingo!!

these wars arent started because of religion - they are started by fucked up, over zealous twats who want to hang a reason on their psychopathy so they play the religion card.

It doesnt say anything in the Koran about murdering / killing but overzealous zealots manipulate others in believing thats the way forward.

Best quote I've heard :

"If your religion is worth killing for, then please start with yourself"

**NB - the Koran reference above used only as an example - im quite aware that just about every other religion has its fucked up followers.

From what I've read, muslims were much more advanced in terms of science, medicine etc. in the middle ages. When the crusades had started, christians were the real barbarians.

After several centuries of fighting, muslims had to embrace the Seldzuk Turk leaders, the most backward and savage of them, to unite them and fight the christian trying ot occuppy them. But in doing so, they became more militant.

Sorry for bad English, perhaps a history teacher can explain that better. Perhaps my impression is wrong.

As far as religion goes, If all the people claiming they are religious really respected and lived what the holy books tell them to live, there would be no need for police, courts, armies. My country has a vast majority of Orthodox Christians. I see "christians" robbing, shooting, killing each other on daily bases. Looking at UK crime rates, it is not much different (I'm sure not all the robbers are muslims).

My grandfather fought Germans in the WW2. He never haded them.

My city was bombed by the US, UK and few other "allies" in 1999. Mom crossed bridge near our home some minutes before it was blown up. Those were the longest 10 minutes of my life. My country didn't attack US, or the UK. I don't hate anyone, but there are people who do. Not many muslims in Serbia.

Some people had their families killed, houses destroyed, by some far away countries, across the sea - from aeroplanes -you couldn't even see an enemy soldier. In such circumstances, terrorism is the only way to fight. I don't support, don't practice it, but i UNDERSTAND it.  If you judge terrorists, you must also judge the UK and US soldiers - they go to foreign countries - that is attack, occupation, no matter how you sugar-coat it.

I'm a communist and think all the religions and nations are shit.

I practice no religion but have studied a little & all the worlds major ones seem to say "treat your neighbour as you would wish to be treated".
It is horrendous what has been done in the name of this belief system or that since time immemorial-and while the world operates on a basis of fear & greed-nothings likely to change anytime soon. Its a great pity that people aren't allowed to live in peace because of the warmongers . What people do & what they say----two different things entirely. I will have nothing to do with politicians of any persuasion & organised religion to my way of thinking is just another form of control.
I am grateful to my country for many things, particularly my education that taught me to question everything & take nothing at face value but I am especially glad that I am now too old to take the "Queens Shilling" and try to impose British(English) will on my fellow man.
Mankind thinks itself so civilised & advanced but we don't learn the lessons of the past do we?

I think not.

I've got a Muslim family living in the house on one side of me and a couple of Muslim lads in a flat on the other side.

I don't worry about them leaping over the wall wearing a Semtex waistcoat yelling "Allahu Akhbar!", it's usually the kids saying "can we get our ball back?"

Oh, but I do hear the lads yelling "Allahu Akhbar!", mostly when they're watching football and their team has just scored...

Islam is the ultimate human evil in today’s world and always was through history. In spite of this millions of Muslims following this ideology have been allowed to immigrate into the West with devastating consequences. The result is growing and festering efforts to establish a Caliphate in the Western world.

Just a wee quote from that web site.  A site clearly run by bigots, and dangerous ones at that.

Quote
don't forget that one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter.

Of course the whole Afghan mess started with an American initiative to  destabilise a democratic and increasingly liberal country in order that the USA could give the USSR it's Vietnam.

It is also the USA's nice allies the Saudis who have pretty much funded the whole global Wahhabism movement using their vast income from the USA.

The West has again and again imposed murderous dictators on middle eastern countries and stolen their oil.  It seems that the only thing that succeeds in overthrowing these murderous regimes is hard line fundamentalists.  In the case of Iran, the USA got the man they had installed in Iraq to wage war against Iran in order that the USA could get one of their puppets back in control of the country.  The operation lasting many years and costing 2,000,000 lives was funded by the USA via their nasty friends in Saudi.  It was a complete failure.  And don't expect countries like Iran to forget in a hurry how they have been treated by so called western democracies.

Millions upon millions of people have lost their lives as a result of western policy in the East.  Many many more millions suffer the results of our policies in the East.

God help us if we ever fully reap the harvest we have sown.

The more time passes, the more those cyber-punk novels, and Orwell's 1984 seem like a prediction, not a fiction. More and more poor people, figthing over small things, while a few people seem to control it all. Like some sick combination of William Gibson and 1984. Getting worse year after year.

Well, I thought we were actually paying them for it rather than stealing it. After all, if it was really so bad a piracy people like yourself would refrain from filling up their tank with stolen oil and stop riding their Fazer in protest.

The general idea was to put puppets in power, give em loads of dosh and get the oil out for song.

If you read a little of the history of BP (originally the Anglo-Persian Oil Company), you'll see that the use of the word stolen is not unreasonable.

I suppose you also want me to freeze to death this coming winter cos I don't like the big energy companies ripping me off.  That's if I don't starve to death first in protest at our food industry and rip off supermarkets.

It is indeed. Like me you could chop some wood to keep warm this winter and like me run a smallholding and swap produce for commodities not stolen from arabs. You could both protest and eat better at the same time mate. It's not the reason I do it myself, I don't mind filling my Fazer with 'stolen' oil, the whahabi regime in Saudi can take a running jump.

Oil is a thing that will run out. In the long run, it is not wise to base economy around oil.

My country has some oil, and people in charge sold it to the Russians. You can choose between 2 corrupt politicians in ellections, but you can't influence their decisions later. Russians bribe those in charge and get oil for cheap.  Same in middle east. Those who don't want to sell are proclaimed dictators, attacked, rebels are sponsored and armed in their countries, to throw government down.

Wise thing would be to ban all private cars, motorcycles etc, use public transport and use oil only when neccessery (for things like production of some rubber, surgical equipment, emergency services). Solar, wind and water energy for producing electricity only. Force people to put good insulation on houses, use solar, or thermal water for heating.  And if there's too many people it still won't work in the long run, so we need more condoms, or a good old world war! :)

I'd gladly give up riding Fazer in such an effort to secure future for future generations. A monkey with a big brain is not entitled to 100 HP under his but. It's a very big luxury only 1 or 2 percent of such monkeys in the whole world can afford.

When I was a student in the late sixties the "environmental movement" was only just beginning to enter our consciousness. There were dire predictions about oil running out before the year 2000, mass starvation, pandemics etc, etc. All that's really happened is that we are still totally dependent on oil-not just as a primary energy source but for most of our chemical industry (including pharmaceuticals). So whatever the reasons given by politicos for their military presence/involvement in other countries its not about the stated aim (democracy or whatever euphemism they care to employ) but to control the flow of oil as this enables them to maintain control.
As suggested earlier you have to look beyond the words to the underlying motive.  The Who said it for me when they sang "Wont get fooled again" & Bob Dylan suggested we "Don't follow leaders.........Make no mistake Ive not come across a politician motivated by selflessness or altruism yet.
The world doesn't have to operate this way but until people realise whats really going on they will remain in ignorance. Isnt this why the Catholic Church continued to use Latin for their mass when most of those attending weren't even literate in their own language. Power is what its all about. I guess it will all end badly for mankind but we can each do our individual bit for a better world for our kids and grandchildren, whatever our skin colour, country of birth, etc.
Without HOPE were all f****d.

If you read the Independant then you deserve to be shocked. If you are serious about the so called 'Islamaphobia' as some twats describe it, try and find serious resources to back it up. I've sene from your previous posts you like to cry wolf over the Tory press, please have the sense to realise that many left wing diatribes in the Independant/Guardian are just as doubtful sometimes. The report has been published by Professor Nigel Copsey of Teesside University.

It's certainly concerning the high number of incidents that have occurred since the Woolwich murder.

Also the growing activity of far right groups, and what appears to be a bizarre and frighting politicalization of football casuals.
