I could look into some routes I've used in the past in Essexs/Suffolk area, finish point depends on how many miles people are comfortable with doing in a day, promise no A12. Suggest start point the Tea Hut in Epping.

Thats' if you can trust a newbie to your group ;)

Shh you! I'm hiding :P Besides, I'll be away this month and won't be around to organise anything haha (still going to turn up though :D)

The A12, north of the M25, is truely atrocious though - its such a bad road surface, especially for two wheelers

Local knowledge is indeed handy but unfortunately I don't have much of that for these roads as I've only been living here for 9~ months and only out and about for about 5 of those - most of that mileage is out with the london foccers :)

I did the support ride for this each year-

http://thetipplerun.blogspot.co.uk/ (http://thetipplerun.blogspot.co.uk/)
(Unfortunately there isn't one this year  :'( )

Have a look at the 2010 map, Point B to Point C was day 2, the roads are pre ridden and enjoyable, obviously they can be altered for a meet up point and a Finish point.

To be honest at this moment in time I would not remember the exact roads we took and I can't easily programme this into the satnav I have on iPhone so am not volunteering to lead the group, however if I do join in I'd happily play 'sweeper' like I do on the tipple!

Hopefully this works too-

Right then...

After carefull consideration and discussion with my oracle (her indoors) I now have a day pass for this ride out, but will probabley be only going as far as King's Lynn. From there I'll head back to the big smoke via A10 and M11.

Anyone meeting up at Blackheath for this?

I'm easy, (for the destination, not the leather clad boys!)
If going down that way a stop off at Devils Dyke is fantastic, iron age hill fort remnants and the longest deepest, widest dry vally in the uk!
From memory the lanes were pretty tight getting to it so no hooning around getting there but boy is it worth it, and there's a pub there too!  :b

To be honest, the only other place I'd recommend for a rideout would be Stratford (on Avon, not east London)

For my first ride with you guys I'd really rather not plan a route, I have no idea what the average rider considers an acceptable mileage for a days run (I'm going to Manchester and back tomorrow and see that as fine!)

Plus tbh it's rare I get to check out decent roads, obviously I gotta get the job done as quick as and get back for anymore work!

The only thing I can suggest is heading out towards Guildford and round to Brighton, east of the M23 I'm very unsure about, possibly head out to Tonbridge wells to make more of a circle!?

But let's face it, up until Croyden/  the M25 its all a bit pants!

I like the sound of that route. I'm a bit of a wimp and get a lot of pain quickly on longer runs. Saying that I used to do 100+ Miles a day on my ybr

He shall say no more due to the overwhelming number of guys that will also be present, whereby he would probably have to resort to using a peacocks tail and parade around before he got any luck ;)

Though you never know, he may be attending because of the overwhelming number of guys - its all a bit suspect after that "sleepover"  :lol

No, the event is being engineered by a the organiser (a friend of mine) and the pretty ladies' mothers to arrange as much contact between afore mentionned eligible young ladies and me.

I love having a harem.  :)

Just a gravelled clearing in the woods, with a little lane running off by it, and of course the tea hut painted green (lately run by one whom is universally considered to be - erm, how to put this diplomatically - a prick (sorry Bradley if you're reading this!) Plus of course, if the weather's nice, there'll be a load of bikes there  ;) .

AA says 50mins to Loughton (via Blackwall - which prob makes more sense than Woolwich Ferry) - so 9:30/9:40? Give us 20 mins or so for mechanically recovered, unspecified animal delicacy...

Exup, did you say something about another rideout happening near Royston ?

It was me who suggested Brighton but, foolishly, I didn't propose a route - when a route was finally worked out it didn't have Brighton at the end of it, go figure??
The route we're going on is pretty good though - worth the effort if you can make it. S

We are still meeting at the same place as before as said by Exupnut - its the little bike park place just off the A104. It's on the corner of the junction between Fairmead Road and Cross Roads - see here http://goo.gl/maps/1hLwL (http://goo.gl/maps/1hLwL)

How the hell did Google get a sunny day and there are no bikes there?! Don't mind what the actual route is as long as the meeting point doesn't change.

An hour and 47 mins to do a 100 miles.  I hope not.  What time does this thing kick off anyways ?  Judging by Steeeve66's post it looks like 11 am.  If that's the case I can leave at 9am, but since I'm up from 6:30 in the am due to the boyz it makes little difference.

I'll send an SMS to Exup @ 9am telling him if I'm comin or not anyways.  Now to arrange the  RAC cover (perhaps)

Yep, 11am as I have it. Going to try to get there a bit earlier myself, take advantage of the cooler morning temperatures and put my feet up for a bit before the mayhem begins. Try and make it if you can - the more the merrier.

Since its a nice meeting time I imagine I'll be a bit early as well :)

Had to get up at 5am for the last one (or maybe the one before)

If you don't attend simonm, you will be subject to endless ridicule :P

Scary at times but I'm no longer a ride out virgin :-).  All the guys were really laid back and supportive.

Punkstig was the ride out bouncer and did an awesome job, looking hot in his leathers (literally).  Kosmic and Exup did a good job with the route and leading and the rest of us didn't have anything to do but ride.

Very satisfying.

If everyone's happy with it next time then I'll do a full time job of it, good to meet all you guys, good roads and dam decent riding skills, next time I won't have to be stretching my leathers so I'll be in something more comfortable!  :D

Classic moment where Exup puts me in second behind Kosmic only for me to be left behind in the dust not knowing what's going on and if I was holding the lads up.  I did my best for a bit but then bowed out to the hard-core bunch.  Definitely shows how skilled the guys are and how considerate they were to wait up for the laggers.

Loved like a great day out! I got stuck on the m25 in the car and didn't make it back remotely in time!

I think I'm going to have to organise a ride out to save myself from being bolloked!

Damn good ride out today :)

Kudos to simonm for keeping up, especially during some of the interesting filtering at the start...

And thanks for Punkstig for ride on his modded 600 ^^ I'd say it puts mine to shame, but to be honest, they all do... except Christo's :P

Excellent ride out today guys, thanks, good to put more faces to names! Utterly shagged, just got in, ignored all camera signs on M25, so that's probably my license shagged too  :rolleyes  Did anyone record mileage from the Beach and back? For me, add to that about another 194. Locked rear brake more than once today, glad you were in front Stig, so not caught on camera. F*****ng A!  :)

PS. That's not a foccer salute I'm doing. I'm inserting earplugs.

Some of you lofo's should come to the Midlands for a ride out or two (maybe on the way up norf).  If it happened I have a few tents, a few decent routes and a bbq that could be enlisted in the cause.

I miss you lofos  :'(
