Title: Petrol prices in France?
Post by: john roche on 01 June 2013, 09:44:55 am
Hi guys,

I'm off to France for a few days next week. Is it better to fill up before the Chunnell or wait till the other side?

TIA.

Cheers

John

I did a eurotour last September (9 countries in 3 weeks) and France was around 1.73E, when we were around £1.30. Unless you have an eighty+ litre tank, you are talking pennies of a difference. Austria is the only place in the EU that is noticeably cheaper. Enjoy your trip!!!

€1.55 in the leclercs, €1.65 on the major roads. Try not to run more than 1 tankful of E10 in a row, and especially not at altitude, i spluttered up to the mont blanc tunnel!

Luxembourg is fairly cheap

Is the e10 stuff safe to use then?

Most places still had super 95 but confusing in some places

Luxembourg has some nice roads too, I've been across the northern part through Clervaux on my way to the Nurburgring a few times. Near the borders there are loads of petrol stations doing good business with the Germans/French.

Even though Yamaha say the E10 petrol is ok to use for recent models, I dont run more than 1 tankfull in a row either. They have been using the stuff for longer over there, so I might do a bit of research on European forums.

yamaha france dites non!

E10 is hydroscopic, and over a period pf time brittles up rubber components.
If you keep a mix of normal fuel and e10 then not too bad

Fuel prices frighten the life out of me everytime I come home to the UK.  :eek

Here in Saudi we pay 7.8p per L for 91 octane, 11.5p for 95 and 4.2p for diesel.  :)

1.65 Euros on the Autoroutes when I was there 2 weeks ago.  Cheaper at the supermarkets off the Autoroutes though.  As said, try to avoid the E10 if you can although a number of Autoroute service areas don't do normal unleaded any more but they do still do the super unleaded so use that instead.
