Title: Rescue Rideout August 18th
Post by: Yellowwolf on 29 May 2013, 01:28:09 pm
Anyone going to this? It looks like quite a big ride, in aid of Air Ambulance. Starting points in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Birmingham, London and Northamptonshire. Police escort from Jack's Hill Cafe into Brackley Festival of Motorcycling. Sign up at theairambulanceservice.org.uk/rideout

Will talk to the missus tonight and see if I can get a day pass.

Does it do Derby -> Leicestershire -> Northampton or are they all separate rides ?  It would be much cooler if they everyone tagged along en-route.

Fingers crossed.

Im signed up. From what I can gather, the ride outs are all coming in seperately from different areas but they all meet up at jacks hill and leave there in batches of 250 to Brackley.

Yep thats the plan. If anyone hasn't gone on a ride with thousands of other bikes- do it, its an amazing experience AND it raises money for charity :) x

I feel I really ought to go on this, having been the recipient of the services of the London Air Ambulance in the past, but too early to say if I can make it or not. Is there a "latest application" date on this?

Anyone know what time this packs up? It's 200 odd miles for me, and I might be up for it, provided I can get back to Andover at a decent time. Work early on Monday. That said, why the fuck am I still online at this hour?  :rollin :rollin :rollin
Title: Re: Rescue Rideout August 18th
Post by: Doddsie on 22 July 2013, 02:14:57 pm
200 miles????? you taking the scenic route?? Andover to Brackley is only about 70 miles, if you left at 6 you`d be home by half seven easy!

Post by: simonm on 22 July 2013, 02:52:19 pm
Once the ride to the show is done, you'd wander around then make your own way back afaik.  You could be back whenever you wanted to be.

You should forget  the Ace and just get straight to Jack's Hill. Any more complications and you'll just use it as an excuse not to bother. I know, cos I'm a lazy Foccer too :lol

Foccers all salute all Fazers at Jacks Hill? I will be riding my black 600 with its Blueflame can, wearing black & blue Richa leathers and wearing my white Caberg helmet. I'm also 6ft3, do I count as a monument?  :lol

Nick, are you riding up from the Ace?

Doddsie try taking a look at your email reply from the air ambulance in response to your registration.
Mine stated as below with a reference number that isn't on the paperwork.

Your order from The Air Ambulance has been processed successfully‏

The unique reference for this transaction is -----------

I hope this makes sense and helps.

Well, do you remember those funny little boxes that you hold in your hand, you know, with all the numbered little buttons on them? Try pressing this combination of numbers on it: 08454 130999 (contact, not emergency no.). What, the box spoke to you? :lol

Title: Re: Rescue Rideout August 18th
Post by: Hedgetrimmer on 03 August 2013, 01:29:39 am
I shouldn't worry about it. I've just checked all my docs and there's no entry/registration number in my posted stuff. Also, the only number I've been given in any email is just a confirmation of the payment of £10, just a transaction reference - well, they don't ask you to bring that. I would think they can check going on your name, address details etc. They do say if you apply late you may not receive your docs in time, not to worry, just arrive a bit earlier for registration. :)

Title: Re: Rescue Rideout August 18th
Post by: Hedgetrimmer on 03 August 2013, 01:57:03 am
positively my last post tonight, cos I'm knackered...
You're not going with anything less than I'll have, cos that's all you got sent. Take your letter, it has your name and address on it and welcomes you to the rideout. I know for a fact that I haven't lost anything, cos I put it all back in the envelope as soon as I had checked it, and put it in a safe place where it hasn't moved from. I'm more concerned that they'll want to check insurance docs, cos I only got mine via email and my printer is shagged! Plus, I'm wondering if I'll be fit enough to go... :o
NIGHTY NIGHT! :lol
Title: Re: Rescue Rideout August 18th
Post by: simonm on 03 August 2013, 08:35:39 am
Surely it would say if you needed your license/tax/mot/insurance information to hand.  The only thing I remember is that it stated some of the routes are motorway and so a certain size bike/license is needed.

I can't think they'll want to check everyone's details.

Did a dry run last weekend,  my boss gave me a coorporate ticket to World superbikes at Silverstone, so went from Leicester on my bike via M1/A43, but coming back, decided to go A5 back via Hinckley, which is the route I think we will be taking. Enjoyed the run, tagging on the back of a lot of other bikes heading back from Silverstone. Should be a good ride with the festival to attend as well!

Bert, Helen, Yellowwolf, I've just signed up for this rideout, meeting at Jack's Hill. I've had to leave it until now to sign up as I've not been able to ride since Father's Day in June, due to a back injury, but I'm now getting to the stage whereby I feel confident that my back will be ok - and I'm getting seriously p'd off with just looking at my bike parked up in the garage - I need to to get out on it  ;)
Not sure what time I need to be at Jack's Hill, seen it somewhere but can't find it now, but I won't be too late because I will need a sausage & bacon cob and a coffee  :lol

I'll look out for you all there  :) I'll be the fat lad on a black Tiger 1050, '09 plate  ;)

What time are you aiming to get there Bert? As I've registered fairly late, I doubt I'll receive anything through the post in time, so I'll just print off my registration confirmation & bring it with me, once I've sorted that I'll try & do some Foccer spotting.
I'm going out for a bimble tomorrow all being well, my first ride since June so it'll be a steady one and hopefully my back will survive  ;)

Hi Steve I'm also aiming for around nine so if we all put flashing lights on our heads and wear the button holes we should stand out enough to find each other.  :lol

Nice one Bert, 9ish at Jack's Hill it is then, now do I just blat straight down the M1 -> J15A, or do I leave leave the M1 near LFE Services and do the A426 / A5 route that Chris.Biker normally does to Jack's Hill? Option 2 is definitely interesting, think I'll go with that one :-)

Was good to see you guys today and be blessed with lovely weather, brilliant turnout with an estimated up to 450 bikes through the gates from Jacks hill meet up.
Each year the crowds get bigger and this time was no exception, well organised I thought apart from having to walk most of the way there once we had parked the bikes.  :lol

Near Silverstone....
Where's that ?

Oh, it was nice to meet you all some of you  :lol by the way.
I think we need lessons in humour though cos the entire days joking was way too surreal for even me to even comprehend.

One example was the discussion on doubletaps.  Surreal.  http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DoubleTap (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DoubleTap)

Good day out, and good to meet some more Foccers, Fazer owners are a strange lot! :lol
Simonm, Christo, Doddsie and myself were involved in the weirdest conversation I ever hope to have, still not sure I know what it was all about!  :eek
Christo's new nickname = double-tap - I'll leave it to him to explain why  :rollin
Very evocative sounds at Brackley as they ran all the old race bikes, 4 strokes, 2 strokes, twins, fours, just about everything you could think of, superb  :)
Photos later when I've put my feet up for a bit.

Cheapskate, bacon roll and a cuppa come free with the rideout!!!!  ;)

Okay then we will tell them at Jacks Hill that you said it's okay only I didn't think the café gave free tea or bacon.  :rolleyes
I must have miss understood thought that it was free entrance and refreshments at Brackley for the pre booked   :2fingers

See, told ya, see, see, told ya, see ;) .  I can see why the bacon roll was free, you certainly wouldnt of payed for it!!
