Anyone going to this? It looks like quite a big ride, in aid of Air Ambulance. Starting points in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Birmingham, London and Northamptonshire. Police escort from Jack's Hill Cafe into Brackley Festival of Motorcycling. Sign up at theairambulanceservice.org.uk/rideout
-
Ooh, will check the diary. Been meaning to get to Brackley festival for yearsv :rolleyes
-
Been to the last two, really good day out. Highly recommended!
-
Sounds good but will not know if I m free till nearer the time.
-
Have signed up for this, would be nice to have some company :)
-
Will talk to the missus tonight and see if I can get a day pass.
Does it do Derby -> Leicestershire -> Northampton or are they all separate rides ? It would be much cooler if they everyone tagged along en-route.
Fingers crossed.
-
Im signed up. From what I can gather, the ride outs are all coming in seperately from different areas but they all meet up at jacks hill and leave there in batches of 250 to Brackley.

Yep thats the plan. If anyone hasn't gone on a ride with thousands of other bikes- do it, its an amazing experience AND it raises money for charity :) x
-
Which one are people thinking of starting from ?
-
You have to state which one when booking, Im at jacks hill as its only up the road from me.
-
I'm starting at Wellingboro so I get a bit of a longer rideout :)
-
I feel I really ought to go on this, having been the recipient of the services of the London Air Ambulance in the past, but too early to say if I can make it or not. Is there a "latest application" date on this?
-
Its all here.....

Look forward to trying to meet up with yellowolf and bornagain in the Brackley crowds :lol
-
Looks like you can't chose who you ride with, but are just allocated a "pack"? Also going from Jack's Hill.
-
Seems like there's a lotta foc'cers going then. :lol
-
Jack's Hill near to you isn't it Simon? Go on, get out there and support Air Ambulance. Don't begrudge them the fact that if it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be here today :lol
-
I'm going to go to one, but I haven't figured out which yet.
Shame we can't enlist the mighty lofo's too as there is one from London too.

And this is the point where I look a fool (again) if I've made a mistake :lol
-
Anyone know what time this packs up? It's 200 odd miles for me, and I might be up for it, provided I can get back to Andover at a decent time. Work early on Monday. That said, why the fuck am I still online at this hour? :rollin :rollin :rollin
-
200 miles????? you taking the scenic route?? Andover to Brackley is only about 70 miles, if you left at 6 you`d be home by half seven easy!
-
Once the ride to the show is done, you'd wander around then make your own way back afaik. You could be back whenever you wanted to be.
-
200 mile round trip, I meant. I'm thinking of going now, y'see!
-
I still only make that a 140 mile round trip!!!!! ;)
-
I still only make that a 140 mile round trip!!!!! ;)
I'll admit I was confused too.
-
I still only make that a 140 mile round trip!!!!! ;)
Andover to Ace Cafe to the meet? I'll be going up as a LoFo!!
-
You should forget the Ace and just get straight to Jack's Hill. Any more complications and you'll just use it as an excuse not to bother. I know, cos I'm a lazy Foccer too :lol
-

Nah, I do things properly, LoFo way. :lol :lol :lol
I may ask Exup to ready the teabags... ;)
-
Signed up, leaving from Ace Cafe. :)
-
Haven't done this one before, so don't know what the set up at Brackley is, but is there some sort of landmark Foccers can head for to meet once there?
-
Never been either but will try to find out x
-
Never been either but will try to find out x
Foccers all salute all Fazers at Jacks Hill? I will be riding my black 600 with its Blueflame can, wearing black & blue Richa leathers and wearing my white Caberg helmet. I'm also 6ft3, do I count as a monument? :lol
Nick, are you riding up from the Ace?
-
Town hall is in the middle of the high street, Ill be under the clock wearing a red button hole and holding a copy of the financial times!!!
-
No, straight to Jack's Hill for me. I'm so slow getting going in the mornings that if I was to head for the Ace first I'd have to start out on the previous Wednesday :rolleyes
-
Stupid bloody computer - that didn't come out quite like I meant it to :rolleyes

Okay then we will tell them at Jacks Hill that you said it's okay only I didn't think the café gave free tea or bacon. :rolleyes
I must have miss understood thought that it was free entrance and refreshments at Brackley for the pre booked :2fingers
-
Tongue was firmly in cheek!!!!!
-
Tongue was firmly in cheek!!!!!
That's fine my friend, I'll gladly get you a tea as well. :)
-
If I make it...... I think Ive lost some of the bloody paperwork they sent me :rolleyes . Got the credit card size bit of card with emergency numbers etc on it and 4 sheets of A4 stating registering times and sponsorship etc but I seem to remember there being a registration number or something????
-
Doddsie try taking a look at your email reply from the air ambulance in response to your registration.
Mine stated as below with a reference number that isn't on the paperwork.
Your order from The Air Ambulance has been processed successfully
The unique reference for this transaction is -----------
I hope this makes sense and helps.
-
lol...... I deleted the emails!!!!! :'(
-
Sue...sorry, Doddsie (thought that had gone away didn't you?! :lol ), get yer act together mate! Why don't you contact them? :eek
-
shit sticks mate!!!! Have tried to contact them but all emails get returned un sent !!!!!
-
Well, do you remember those funny little boxes that you hold in your hand, you know, with all the numbered little buttons on them? Try pressing this combination of numbers on it: 08454 130999 (contact, not emergency no.). What, the box spoke to you? :lol
-
yeah yeah yeah, tried that first....... `the number you have called is unavailable`
-
I shouldn't worry about it. I've just checked all my docs and there's no entry/registration number in my posted stuff. Also, the only number I've been given in any email is just a confirmation of the payment of £10, just a transaction reference - well, they don't ask you to bring that. I would think they can check going on your name, address details etc. They do say if you apply late you may not receive your docs in time, not to worry, just arrive a bit earlier for registration. :)
-
If they dont let me in Ill make my own way, no great loss. will have to arrange nearer the time to meet up with a few others though!! :)
-
I think you're worrying too much - it'll be no problem.
-
Im not worried , just curious. Worse case senario, I lose £10! Been to Brackley last couple of years, bloody good day out! :D
-
positively my last post tonight, cos I'm knackered...
You're not going with anything less than I'll have, cos that's all you got sent. Take your letter, it has your name and address on it and welcomes you to the rideout. I know for a fact that I haven't lost anything, cos I put it all back in the envelope as soon as I had checked it, and put it in a safe place where it hasn't moved from. I'm more concerned that they'll want to check insurance docs, cos I only got mine via email and my printer is shagged! Plus, I'm wondering if I'll be fit enough to go... :o
NIGHTY NIGHT! :lol
-
Surely it would say if you needed your license/tax/mot/insurance information to hand. The only thing I remember is that it stated some of the routes are motorway and so a certain size bike/license is needed.
I can't think they'll want to check everyone's details.
-
Sue...sorry, Doddsie (thought that had gone away didn't you?! :lol ), get yer act together mate! Why don't you contact them? :eek
Does this mean I'm now Doddsie ? ;)
-
I don't know. Do you feel like a Doddsie?
-
Its a great feeling!!!!!!
-
I don't know. Do you feel like a Doddsie?
I don't know lol, then again I never felt like a Su either lol. Maybe I should change my name to Yellowwolf by deed poll ;) x

Did a dry run last weekend, my boss gave me a coorporate ticket to World superbikes at Silverstone, so went from Leicester on my bike via M1/A43, but coming back, decided to go A5 back via Hinckley, which is the route I think we will be taking. Enjoyed the run, tagging on the back of a lot of other bikes heading back from Silverstone. Should be a good ride with the festival to attend as well!
-
So -- do you have to pre reg or can you turn up (Hinckley for me ) and pay and reg on the morning

I have sent email to Air ambulance events and the reply was that I can reg and pay on the day at Hinckley
-
Jacks hill cafe sent out a message that they have had a meeting, and last day for registration is tomorrow. Not sure if that is only for jacks hill though!
-
Bert, Helen, Yellowwolf, I've just signed up for this rideout, meeting at Jack's Hill. I've had to leave it until now to sign up as I've not been able to ride since Father's Day in June, due to a back injury, but I'm now getting to the stage whereby I feel confident that my back will be ok - and I'm getting seriously p'd off with just looking at my bike parked up in the garage - I need to to get out on it ;)
Not sure what time I need to be at Jack's Hill, seen it somewhere but can't find it now, but I won't be too late because I will need a sausage & bacon cob and a coffee :lol
I'll look out for you all there :) I'll be the fat lad on a black Tiger 1050, '09 plate ;)

Go steady with that back of yours mate.
-
What time are you aiming to get there Bert? As I've registered fairly late, I doubt I'll receive anything through the post in time, so I'll just print off my registration confirmation & bring it with me, once I've sorted that I'll try & do some Foccer spotting.
I'm going out for a bimble tomorrow all being well, my first ride since June so it'll be a steady one and hopefully my back will survive ;)
-
On the website it says:
Online registration this event is now closed. Limited registration places will be available on the day. To join us and avoid disappointment, please arrive 15 minutes before the registration opening times stated above, to guarantee your place on the official Ride Out.
-
I think I'll be at Jack's Hill around 9am, plenty of time for a cuppa and all that jazz!!
In the true spirit of the fazer owners club, I'll be on a bright orange Ducati Monster :rollin :rollin
-
Yep Ill be there around 9ish too.
-
I might have a red VFR800 in tow if I can get my pal Rick out of bed early enough!! :lol :lol

Hi Steve I'm also aiming for around nine so if we all put flashing lights on our heads and wear the button holes we should stand out enough to find each other. :lol
-
Nice one Bert, 9ish at Jack's Hill it is then, now do I just blat straight down the M1 -> J15A, or do I leave leave the M1 near LFE Services and do the A426 / A5 route that Chris.Biker normally does to Jack's Hill? Option 2 is definitely interesting, think I'll go with that one :-)
-
I know Mr Exupbollocks is meeting at Ace Cafe too - anyone else? :)
-
Weather looking good for this, maybe some rain first thing, but mostly dry and sunny after that :)
-
We leave Wellingborough at around 9 so imagine we'll be at Jack's Hill for around 9.30. See you there! X
-
I might end up getting there a little early, so hurry if you want bacon rolls - there mightn't be any left! :lol
Going by posts on the several threads on this, that's 12 Foccers going - +others?
-
Bottom of the high street behind the clock tower there is a pub, the Red Lion. Anyone fancy a beer at one oclock ish?
-
Sounds ok to me.
You got a thing for that clock tower, haven't you? :lol
-
Ive got a shit watch!!!! ;)
-
Could be quite a queue for the bar tomorrow.....
-
Wasnt too bad last year. Mind you, most people were stood outside in the sunshine then, might be a bit different this year!
-
Forecast is good.
-
Fingers crossed, its pissing down in Northampton at the minute.
-
I know Mr Exupbollocks is meeting at Ace Cafe too - anyone else? :)
Hehe......No mr exupbollox today i'm afraid
Hope u all had a goodun tho
-
Was good to see you guys today and be blessed with lovely weather, brilliant turnout with an estimated up to 450 bikes through the gates from Jacks hill meet up.
Each year the crowds get bigger and this time was no exception, well organised I thought apart from having to walk most of the way there once we had parked the bikes. :lol
-
Quote of the day:
Where are we ?
Brackley
Where's Brackley?
You know where Northampton is ?
No
Near Silverstone....
Where's that ?
The midlands (.... /sarcasm) ..wait a min, I'll get Google maps.
-
Oh, it was nice to meet
you all some of you :lol by the way.
I think we need lessons in humour though cos the entire days joking was way too surreal for even me to even comprehend.
One example was the discussion on doubletaps. Surreal. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DoubleTap (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DoubleTap)
-
Sorry, only just seen this after returning, would have popped in to meet you guy's if I'd known, but was with a few others, you would have easily spotted us, my mate was about the only one on a 125 Scooter! Sorry if we held anyone up on the way down! Good day out, weather excellent too!
-
Lovely to see you all as always :)) x
-
Good day out, and good to meet some more Foccers, Fazer owners are a strange lot! :lol
Simonm, Christo, Doddsie and myself were involved in the weirdest conversation I ever hope to have, still not sure I know what it was all about! :eek
Christo's new nickname = double-tap - I'll leave it to him to explain why :rollin
Very evocative sounds at Brackley as they ran all the old race bikes, 4 strokes, 2 strokes, twins, fours, just about everything you could think of, superb :)
Photos later when I've put my feet up for a bit.
-
Cheapskate, bacon roll and a cuppa come free with the rideout!!!! ;)
Okay then we will tell them at Jacks Hill that you said it's okay only I didn't think the café gave free tea or bacon. :rolleyes

See, told ya, see, see, told ya, see ;) . I can see why the bacon roll was free, you certainly wouldnt of payed for it!!

A good day indeed! Shall post the vid of the racing 2 strokes after me ears stop bleeding!

The only bacon roll I've ever had that actually dehydrated me! But made up for it with the hog roast and a nice ale at the Red Lion pub in Brackley, mmmmmmm!
