Title: Non-standard sprocket sizes

Hi All!
So I've been to see a man about my bike, and among various other parts, I've been informed that a change of chain+sprockets is a good shout.  When I was chatting to this guy, he was talking about using non standard sprocket sizes to get better acceleration/top speed depending on which way you went.


I've had a bit of a search about for getting different sized sprockets for my 2000 Fazer, but can't seem to find any relevant info.  So my questions are basically where can I get some information regarding this change of setup, where can I actually buy different sized sprockets from, and what are peoples experiences with this modification?


Any info would be much appreciated - I did do a forum search, assuming this must have been discussed at some point, but it came up blank, so if anyone can point me in the direction of a relevant thread even...

A lot depends on what kind of riding you normally do.

Have you been on Gearing Commander yet?

Just been on that and gives you some good info. I love my acceleration me ;)

Hi I have an unused rear sprocket one tooth less ,£10 so will make the gearing ever so slightly taller. If you go for lower gearing fuel consumption will suffer. or you could just stay in 5th. I would say the gearing on the 600 is spot on !

If I was going to change the gearing I'd add a couple of teeth to the rear making it faster accelerating at the cost of some of the top speed but to be honest I'd leave it as it is. It's a pretty good setup anyway.

You can buy different tooth sprockets from Wemoto I believe :)
