Title: That Smell
Post by: dBfazer600 on 16 April 2013, 10:30:52 pm
Over the past couple of days I have noticed a strong petrol odour prior to starting (bike stored under a cover) and whilst sat stationary in traffic. Not noticed it before and the only change is my helmet (a temporary piece of cheap crap that replaced a aria that broke) Bike runs a little rough at low revs and idling (will sort filter & spark plugs) but nowt to worry about.

Apart from a fantastic song by Lynyrd Skynyrd is there any suggestions on That Smell source or do you have the same experience with your pride & joy.

Daz (I do quite like That Smell but safety first before I get to high) :)

Mine did the same thing a few years back. The cause turned out to be the tank... rust had eaten a pinhole through from the inside, when the paint over the hole cracked petrol was free to seep out.
Worth having a look underneath I reckon. Also check the fuel hoses and pump.
