Title: Crash bung test
Post by: Davebo on 15 April 2013, 03:10:33 am
Successfully tested my crash bungs today.  :o :( They did a cracking job but ... now I need to replace one of them.

They are Motrax DHMs and have a (roughly) triangular plate that bolts through the frame. Troiuble is the plate is bent. i don't want to straighten it as i think it will be weaker. Any ideas where I might get a plate / kit ?

Thanks, DBo.

Glad they worked well, It's nice to know they are worth it.  I had some Yamaha ones fitted to my Fazer 8 and when I look at them I do wonder how much use they will be, just hope I never have to find out  :rolleyes

Gen yam ones on the 1000 and worked well with 2 low speed offs.

As for a plate if you can't find one just take the old one to a machine shop. They will knock a new one up in no time.

Also,...just replaced the brake pedal with a salvaged one from the nice people at Landmark Bikes. Off of ebay and delivered real quick.

Poop! just worked out that Motrax have gone out of business.

I like the idea of the metal plates taking the force not the frame, so I might look at Puigs as a replacement.

Any comments please other than 'How much !!??'  :eek

Ta, DBo.

Thanks. A trip to the nice people at J&S then. I can take back that crappy tank protector they sold me.

...and after a trip to the nice brother-in-law I have a straightened bracket. Quick spray of Satin Black and all fixed for £25.

Brake pedal - £15
New bung - £10
Protecting your bike and riding it home - £Priceless.
