Post by: Kage7 on 28 March 2013, 05:12:34 pm
When cranking the engine by hand, clockwise or anticlockwise?

With the Alternator cover off and a spanner on the rotor bolt it is anticlockwise

I may be misunderstanding the question, but from the front sprocket, looking at it. It must turn anti clockwise to drive the bike forwards?

Good, makes sense, is there any harm in doing it clockwise?

Probably not. Potentially it could damage the cam chain tensioner guide, normally that would be on the low tension side of the chain. If you're making checks of valve timing, you could get misleading results if the engine has been turned the wrong way though it's unlikely backlash in the system would be that bad.
