Title: Front Brake Pads
Post by: His Dudeness on 12 March 2013, 11:26:01 pm
The 400 has the brembo front calipers so I'm presuming the pads are different to the blue spot calipers. Anyone know what size pads go in the 400?

Try PMing unfazed as he may have manuals.

EDIT: in fact he's already put them into the downloads section http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=downloads;cat=7 (http://foc-u.co.uk/index.php?action=downloads;cat=7) Any use?

Thanks lads they're the ones. Here's a great bit of info that confirms it http://www.e-pieces2roues.fr/plaquette-fa244-ebc,fr,4,02fa244.cfm (http://www.e-pieces2roues.fr/plaquette-fa244-ebc,fr,4,02fa244.cfm)

Unfazed you're a great source of wisdom, I'm wondering if you might know the meaning of life?

Did you actually doubt my wisdom that you had to confirm it?  :'(

Life’s true meaning is to make the most of life on a personal level.  :book
Personally I just think its,           "A bike on the road is worth two in the shed especially on a sunny day"          :lol

Dude, what pads did you buy?

None yet but I'll probably go for organic EBC's. I know everyone recommends SBS but I like the bit of feedback you get from the organics. Haven't tried the SBS but good brake fluid and organics give plenty of stopping power imo.

I tried them and did not like them, now have EBC HH all round, but may go back to SBS HH next change
Son tried them also and di not like the feel of them and has also gone for HH all round .
We both found them to soft and slow to react.

You found the organics slow to react?

Yes Dude, slow to react and requiring to much pressure on them to stop for our riding styles.
I had them in my younger sons 400 after he had passed his test and was still on the restricted licence and he did not like them, I gave him the 600 to take for a spin as a bonus for passing his test and the first thing he asked when he came back was how come the feel and reaction on my brakes was so much better better than his and was wondering if it was due to the difference between the 400 having Brembo and the 600 having Yamaha calipers. I did not think so, but knew from my own experience it was most likely the pads, anyhow we changed the pads shortly aftwards to HH type and he was delighted with them and asked to change the rear ones to HH also.
Not normally recommended for the rear of the 400 or 600, but we both prefer the feel of the HH on the rear also.
However every one to their own taste and I know a few friends who have always used organic pads.
