Are you using standard bulbs, or brighter after market one's??
Sounds like the lens has faded due to an unsuitable hot bulb to me.

Any chance of a photo'?

If it is noticeable and the bulbs are the same (type and wattage) it could be you have a bad earth on the yellow side. (hope that makes sense). Try pulling the wires and have a look at the plug, sometimes the wires can appear to be burnt. HTH.

They look normal to me for this make of bike, they're different bulbs, it's simply a badly thought out design.

You could swap the bulbs or the connectors and see if the problem swaps sides

Possibly swap to two H4 bulbs? Should have the same lighting effect on both lenses without the extra power draw since the second main beam wouldn't be wired.

In fact, has anyone done a full 2x H4 bulbs?

That points to a wiring or earthing problem to the r/h connector. If you're losing a lot of volts somewhere then it may be heating up a connector... so well worth sorting out before the problem gets worse. Check in the connector box beneath the tank for anything looking corroded or melted. If it isn't obvious then you may have to resort to the wiring diagram and a voltmeter to help pinpoint the problem.

What you have is normal. As far as I know, your generation of Fazer is designed with only one light (dipped) to be on just like my Bandit 1200. When you run both lights together (which is not advisable unless you are in a non-lit up area with no oncoming traffic), you are then running the brighter main headlight on the otherside.

There is no real "easy" fix on my Bandit due to the way it is wired and due to the way the bulbs are set up. I have a dedicated dipped bulb on one side and a dedicated full beam bulb on the other. The dipped bilb don't have a full beam and the full beam don't have a dipped.

But on the Fazer as far as I know, both bulbs have both dipped and full beam incorporated in the bulbs and there is a simple modification or "by-pass" to have both sides working on dimmed. I think some of the lads have done it here so do a search. My bike (Mk2) have both lights on so I never had to do the mod.

But anyway, that is why one is light is brighter than the other. The full beam side is just brighter than the dipped side with both lights on. It's designed that way. It's also worth noting that despite the temptation to "look good" and have both lights on...... they way you have them now, it would be illegal to have them on together by day or in lit-up areas at night because you will be running on full beam lights can be dazzling to other motorists on the road even by day. I have tried this and got the odd flash from oncoming traffic so it does effect them. Unfortunately due to the silly design, when I run them the "normal" way, I get the odd flash as well, just to point out the I have only one light working!! Its one of those no win situations!!

Here's the link from the old site for the upgrade easy to do as most have done. I didn't use a relay or inline fuse as not required just put a connection in the wire to back of light so you can disconnect at MOT time. ;)

You've lost me!!. I think that was what I said in my response. One is dipped and one is high, so when you have both lights on together, the high is shining brighter...hence your problem. It doesn't matter which way around they are.

If you want to have both lights on with both shining equally the same, then the dipped lights need to be on both lights which needs a mod which the above poster has given. If you have only dipped lights on, isn't the other light turned off? That's the way your Gen1 Fazer should work just like my Bandit. Then when you turn on full beam, both lights are one with one shining more brightly than the other. Thats the way it should work.
