Check the wire from the front wheel sensor to the clocks, They often unclip and rub against the tyre.

Routing of the cable is important - if it's wrong it can rub on the brake disc and wear through (doesn't need to come unclipped for this to happen).

Haven't got the bike here for a photo to show correct routing, but it might be in the Haynes manual (available in the download section)

got the front wheel off,
and found the speedo drive with no lugs that should be sticking out to fit into the wheel.

when i tried to rotate the movable part to see if the speedo needle would move, it didn't.
how are roatations taken from this part and transferred to the clocks?

now got to try and find a replacement part

mine did the same thing a while back and replaced it with the bit darrsi mentioned.
works a treat now :)
with care you don't need to take the front wheel right out, just drop it enough to get at the thing.

I did a temp repair on my Speedo drive a couple of months ago using araldite or hot glue, worked a treat and its not missed a beat since.

I put a post on here somewhere showing you how to do it.
