Title: I could cry!
Post by: Will.I.Is on 01 March 2013, 12:16:25 pm
This morning I was woken up because my beloved had been knocked down in the street, she is going to be laid up for a few weeks while she is on the mend. £490 bill for the damaged parts to be replaced, in 50,000 miles she had never been on her side until this morning.. The driver of the car was very helpful and has given me the money to repair her so it doesnt have to go through the insurance so I am glad for her honesty and for being so understanding in this difficult time.  :'( :'( :'( :'(

Yep, your Lucky there, most cagers would have driven off, let alone paid for it. Get the little lady back on the road in time for the good weather.:))

Bloody hell! its now going through insurance so it'll be ages before it's sorted! my bike was parked and I was in bed asleep at the time! her parents are more concerned about the scuff on the car as opposed to the foccing motorbike she dragged down the road!!! and she couldnt drive off as my side stand had latched onto her bumper! I really hope they dont write it off!! Pretty angry again now.

I thought she'd given you the money?

Similar sort of thing happened to my workmate, a young woman did a u-turn on him on his GSX600 near work, admitted liabilty straight away and said they would pay cash for the damage (her mum was the passenger).
A week later and the mum said it was her that was driving and it was his fault?  :rolleyes
He never got a penny out of it.

What sort of damage are we talking about on your bike?

All sorted her insurance company called and have given me £620 to fix my bike. It's a bent exhaust and some scuffs on the engine case bar ends and mirrors. Obviously the bill was done by genuine parts and fitted at dealer

Ha ha no I like things sorted fast and the company they were with is admiral, I'm with bikesure who I have to say were a delight to talk to, they listen and understand the pain of your love going under a vauxhall meriva

Im surprised the fairing wasnt damaged, those things seem to be crack magnets in an accident.

Was going to say the same thing about the fairing. Glad it got sorted out quickly to a seemingly satisfactory conclusion! I would say you were pretty lucky, well, apart from the bit where your bike got driven into  ;) . I'm with Bikesure so good to hear they were alright as well.

Im surprised the fairing wasnt damaged, those things seem to be crack magnets in an accident.

Personal experience of dropping both a Varadero and an FZS (oops :o ) has shown me that the Fazer's fairing is surprisingly tough. The fairing on the Vara was made of eggshells, and cracked if you looked at it too hard. The Fazer's is substantially thicker, hence tougher.

Bad luck about your bike, at least it's all being sorted!  :)
