Hi all,
After a heated debate with a non-biker friend of mine, I checked the MCN - they say that the top speed for an unrestricted Fazer is 135mph.
I've had my bike up to 110mph indicated (in controlled conditions, Mr Plod!), and I've only got 33hp!! Due to heavier oil, I now only get 100mph, but still! I'm guessing 150 is doable on the full 95 horses.
What's the fastest you've been on an FZS600?
-
I've never maxed out the fazer but on private road I've had 120.
But then I don't know how accurate the speedo is at those speeds so it could be quite misleading
-
Got both my last 2 boxeye's up to 140, and they wouldn't go any faster. (one had a top box on :lol )
On a private road ofcourse :rolleyes .
-
registered owner sir ..blah blah...110/120 sir..blah blah blah....private road sir? (my foccin arse) blah blahblah.... think were a w/end rossi do we sir blahblahblah your nicked mate.. :lol
lets watch out for the unmarked bikes down oakdene cafe way.as i heard they got black blackbirds (ooer me rassclot) and some fireblade/cbr honda shite unmarked and camera'd up.
-
Meh going fast on a bike is as easy as throwing a ball-anyone can do it! Never had the urge to max out the fazer, an old cbr600 I had I got 150 out of on a dyno think that had a little over 100bhp if thats anything to go by. Take it to Germany Christo and rag it on an autobahn! :evil
-
maxed the 600 at 142........not very stable but could have been the uneven surface on my drive ;)
-
most I've had was 120 on a closed private test track ( :D ) wasn't trying very hard and think I was only in 4th gear. Kind of lost interest after then though, was worried about tractors pulling out onto the private test track...

Sounds familiar!! :rollin well the tractor part anyways!!

135mph with a top box, and a passenger.
Saw a car change lanes about a quarter of a mile ahead so had to come off the throttle, but there was still a bit left, it was still pulling.
If it was just me and the top box i reckon there'd be too much wobble to really test it out?

135 indicated here as well on my old red one, about 115 on the blue one but I haven't fully stretched its legs yet ;)

thats about it with the blue one :lol :lol :lol be nowhere near as fast as your red un

because of the gearing it will only do 135.8 which is what mine topped out on the dyno, it does feel like it needs another gear, I have no doubts if 4th 5th and 6th were a little taller it would do 150

Have to beg to differ on that one, i've no doubt at all they will hit at least 140 if in good running condition.
It may look and and sound like they're thrashing it on a Dyno, but i doubt they push it to the very max, it's not the same as actually riding it.
-
135.8 was on the limiter, I've had my speedo reading 140+ but you need to allow for inacuracys at that speed, thats all the gearing allows unless you change the rear sproket for a smaller one but then you will lose acelleration
-
I've had 120 out of it joining a motorway. It was KPH though ;) :lol
Edit: I will also say, I didn't give it any properly until I was about halfway down the slip road.

I never speed. Nope. Not ever. Not me. And I certainly didn't eat that plump breasted pigeon.
-
I've had 2 x FZS600's and they both did 140mph. I hit 145mph once but clearly a wind assisted event!
FZ1 has hit 167mph indicated, would have loved 170 but don't think it'll stretch that far i'm afraid.
Not really a top speed demon anyway, it's all about the corners for me :D

It's not something you do often, especially with so many unmarked police about these days, but it is one of those things that you need to get out of your system, just for peace of mind. :evil :lol

Technically you are only speeding if there are posted speed limits and I'm fairly sure the "race tracks" we have all used don't have those :lol
-
70mph is the top speed I'm sure :o
-
I got mine easily up to 900 mph by painting 0s on the end of all the numbers on the speedo. Really works.

Top Gear - 10 miles an hour! lol :rollin

Top speed's OK I suppose but if you want to go faster, buy another bike (and try it on the track of course!)

Sorry but this isn't valid with standard 15/48 gearing, I've just recently changed my sprockets and so far I've touched 136, and that was nowhere near the limiter.
If you don't believe anyone here, check http://www.gearingcommander.com/ (http://www.gearingcommander.com/) - The FZS600 has a limiter speed of 172mph, not that it's ever going to get there. At peak power it is geared for 143.1.
As for speedo inaccuracy, well that is a different ballgame entirely. I'm running a 120/70 rather than the standard 110/70. Exactly 130 on the speedo worked out at 120.2 on GPS. :)
-
145 gps figure, 150 on speedo, non standard gearing. M27.
145 indicated but no where near revving out, A32. Same higher gearing.
only one tooth up on front.
Bird will hit indicated 190 on the A32 in 2 places on standard gearing :D and seen 210 on speedo on the straight at the ring.
95 BHP is good for 145 and that's about it. Irrespective of speedo, bullshit etc.
Need 165 BHP to see 185 with good aerodynamics

Which is pretty good considering the aerodynamics of an upright commuter. :D

flatter bars and later fairing help but I have the sail area of a barrage balloon so yes it is. My 95 bhp XS1100 in the 70s did the sameish without the fairing but had to lay flat
