Aint seen a proper scary film for ages. Anyone suggest any good ones?
(I like films with a twist and ones that 'get under the skin' rather that simple gore-fests like Saw etc.... stuff like Event Horizon, The Haunting At Conneticut or The Ring are far better than slasher films).
-
"Martyrs" is well f*cked up as is "Inside", not for the faint hearted. Martyrs stayed with me for aaaages.
"A Serbian Film" was also a hoot but that's more of a gore-fest
-
"The Strangers" weren't bad -
and Funny Games too (the German one that is, not the crappy remake)
-
Watched 'Pulse' last night. That wasnt too bad, but not scarey, more jumpy
-
The Human Centipede (First Sequence)
is properly focced up thinking ;)
-
HOSTEL 2. I TRIED HANGING MY MISSUS UPSIDE DOWN BUT THE ROPE KEPT SNAPPING.
-
Prometheus is good as are all the aliens films
Not exactly scary but still good
Also quality is the latest judge dredd,a true to the comic version with some cool slow mo blood splattering
And a really hot blonde piece.
-
Hostel aint really my thing, human centipede looks funny!
Prometheus was damn good, I will look out for the new dredd film.
Anyone seem the excorsism of emily rose? It looked good on the trailer
-
Not really into horror films myself but the mrs says the paranormal activity films are really good.
Dredd is really good though especially in 3d.
-
I like weird screwed up films, but the human centipede, and even worse, human centipede II are seriously ill films. Not THAT gory, but enough to make you cringe just by some of the insinuations.
Human centiped III is supposed to make the first two look like a disney. Gotta wait for that one though :\
-
didn't know they'd made 2 & 3 - wonder when BBC1 will be showing those :lol :lol
-
Human Centipede was the biggest head fook ever. I can't imagine anything sicker. That's my problem, no imagination

I'm sorry, I gotta shit...
:rollin :rollin although I want laughing as I watched it ;)

Signs with Joaquin Phoenix and Mel Gibson still freaks me out, dunno why.

Three to make sure are on your list:
28 Days Later
Mirrors
The Descent
All class, watched with the lights off, designed to make you jump without cheap gore to do it with.
-
Good point, well made there Rich.
:rollin
-
Ah
Agreed wi poody on the descent
Probably the scariest film i've seen, more because of what you dont see rather than what you do see.
Top filum!
-
watched "Drag me to Hell" a while back whilst travelling. turned out not to be the best choice when you are spending nights alone in a strange hotel room in a foreign country :\
-
Presumably those that thought human centipede was too much have never seen Irreversible or A serbian film
-
Baise Moi is a decent film too

Yep, seen a Serbian film, forgot about that. Very dark, and sick through to the core.
-
With Poodyboy...
The Decent. Nice little twist at the end and one of my all time greats.

+1
I work some nights deep in the countryside and total darkness, except for my wee truck headlights. The sewage farm I visit has Zombies and I have to be bloody quick when locking the gate sprinting back to the cab getting in double quick and locking the door.... And then remember to breathe.
In our house I'm not allowed to watch certain films anymore.

Yes true!!! :eek them zombies come out in the dark, gotta keep an eye out for them :evil
-
28 days later is great, and the descent was good, but I thought it was very jumpy rather than scary
Dog soldiers is another jumpy one, kinda funny too
Obviously, all of these films would be vastly improved with the addition of a few snakes... and a plane!

The old school zombies are ok, because they're slow and a bit stupid. The 28 days zombies are a nightmare but I can cope with them. I don't really mind 'em as I carry guns at work :D
Now werewolves and vampires are a different story. There everywhere round here at night :eek

Any one seen Insidious?
-
If you want something truely disturbing hunt our a movie called Tetsuo: Iron man.. It is really f..kd up..
As for Dredd. Not a bad film for the budget but i wouldnt say it was true to the comics.. Better than the stalone mess though

Forget your overbudget, Hollywood films for the masses...
Martyrs
Inside
13 Tzameti
Old Boy
The Audition
Salo - 120 days of Sodom
Haute Tension
Irreversible
Man Bites Dog
Watch all these and they'll change your vision of "cinema"
-
+1 for the audition and Ichi the Killer
Not that scary but The Killer Inside Me's pretty good, my missus got up and walked out of the living room after 15 minutes,,,,,
-
+1 for 'The Killer Inside Me'. Haunting film.
-
In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro
Man eating Baboons :eek :eek
-
santa sangre
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098253/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098253/)
dark,sick and very bizarre
:lurk
-
Its not a horror but since ichi the killer was mentioned.....
Riki-Oh - The story of Ricky
Ye have never seen a film until you see one where a guy gets his arm tendons severed in a fight and then ties them back together with his own teeth to keep on fighting.........
-
What about Cujo? Never seen it but it scared Rachel (Friends) enough to make her cuddle Joey?
Just a thought?

Ghost ship ain't bad
-
The killer inside me was quite good, watched it yesterday. Bit like Killer Joe.
Dog soldiers on tv tonight!
-
Any one seen Insidious?
Did and thought it was a bit rubbish tbh.
-
Ghost ship ain't bad
Below was better imho
-
Sinister
Watched it the other night and a very decent film.
-
I'd second the Paranormal Activity suggestion.
Not everyone likes the "found footage" style films, but done well they can be quite effective.
Much more of a spooky make you jump type than a gore fest. Recommended.
