Title: Correct Oil amount

Could some one please tell me the correct amount I need for a filter and oil change for my Gen1 Fazer 1000.

Just changed mine today, it took just under 3Litre to get to the top of the sight glass.

Make sure you recheck the oil level after running the bike for a few minutes.

Will do, do you need one of the removal tools as states on the manual for the filter, if so where can you pick em up?

Your local Halfords or motor factors should have them. Either that or use one of those rubber band with the handle thingys..

The cup ones are much easyer to use than the band or chain types on the gen 1 think I payed 6 quid for mine from my local bike shop.

If you buy a K&N oil filter they have a hex head built in that you can get a socket or ring spanner on to undo , but as ghost says the cup type oil filter remover a godsend on standard filters :)

I'm pretty sure it's 65mm . The one I have is a genuine Yamaha one, cost around a tenner IRC.

Mine that i just took off came off with just finger grip,, arhhhhh,,, frightened of what happens if it came off when riding.
