Title: Tank and Saddle Bags
Post by: andybesy on 11 November 2012, 07:14:45 pm
Hi, Can anyone recommend soft luggage to fit an 02 FZS 600?

I've decided against hard luggage for the time being as I just can't afford it, but am really getting in to my touring.

I'd need to find myself a tank bag and a pair of saddle bags.

Does pretty much any bag fit any bike? Or are there specific ones which are known to fit the fazer well?

A mate lost his saddle bags on the M6 at speed and I'm eager to avoid a repeat of this incident. Do they all secure well?

Any recommendations and advice welcome.

Thanks, Andy

Just add extra bungees or straps if you think they may be insecure. I always do. Trip wrecked if you lose your bags on the motorway. Bungee cord is readily available off ebay.

I have done close to 10k miles on motorway with a standard (el cheepo) Lidl tank bag with magnets - just the magnets and one strap keeps it in place and it's still in pretty decent shape, although I may not get too much more than another 10k out of it.

The other thing that I find exceptionally useful is the cargo net - I have carried 10-15 kg bag of grocery, tripods, oddly shaped bags and objects like helmets, downpipes (!!) etc over the rear seat with a strong cargo net - again mostly on motorways! Fazer is my work horse..! :D

Hey there, I've just got myself an Oxford X30 tank bag and it's been great so far, looks really waterproof/sturdy and expands to hold a reasonable amount of stuff. Although of course I need to test it for more than a few rides to recommend it fully, it seems excellent so far.

Hope this helps at all

Try Kriega.

I bought the above (see link). Went touring around the scottish isles and it worked brilliantly. Was water proof and I could quickly detach and re attach it, plus being two bags, I could just detatch the top bag if needed too. Handy on the ferry to carry my camera kit!
