Title: Heated insoles
Post by: NotAnotherHill on 01 November 2012, 08:15:32 pm
Two rides in the last few days. Withe Autumn firmly on us and temperatures well down in single figures it was time to dig out the winter gear: Heated grips; Oxford muffs; merino wool long sleeve top; Assos cycling winter wind proof long sleeved top; sleeveless wind proof ski gilet; pertex wind proof cycling cape; lined textile jacket; winter fleecy cycling Tights; lined textile trousers; waterproof over jacket and trousers; alt-berg waterproof boots; winter gloves; thick socks. Needless to say I was dry and toasty....except for my feet. So, I've just ordered some Keis heated insoles to, hopefully, give me toasty warm toes as well.

That's a boatload of kit to wear!!

I've got Keis gloves and the heated vest, work a dream, no need for the insoles as I have RST Tractec WP boots which are thermal. I'm still in standard black socks!

I like the thought of fleecy leggins... might have to invest as thats the only bit of me thats cold, although I'm still wearing just underarmor leggings and leather trousers, which I'll probably have to change for textile trousers.

Hope the insoles are good and warm, let us all know...

I've still got 2 pairs of seaboot socks that I bought from the army and navy store in 1968, now those of you who weren't even born then, these were the white socks that you folded over the tops of your boots.

I've got some of those socks but mine are nearly new as I only bought them in 1981 to over my ashman boots.

Oh yes!

They also do submariners jerseys which look rather good...

Me, myself, I've got a couple of Aran jumpers (proper ones, like!)

I've recently bought a set of Heat Holder socks which seem very good, although I've not tried them on a long ride in the cold yet.

Ive only ever used corrugated plastic to deflect the cold wind from my feet. Its cheap and works a treat! Mounted either on the crash bars or using mechano 90deg brackets mounted to engine bolts. Simples! :D
Cheers, BozBoz  :)

Fitted the heated insoles and sat on the bike in the garage just to see if they worked. Fantastically warm. Bring on the winter!
