Title: New chain and sprockets??
Post by: ullukk on 15 October 2012, 03:46:40 pm
Hello folks, Its about that time for new chain and sprockets for my gen1 fazer, i usually stick with genuine yamaha parts when replacing bits but just out of interest does anyone recommend any of the after market sets that are for sale?, any advice would be appreciated.

DID ZVM is the OE chain, though the after market chain will not be endless and it will also be gold.

I fitted renthal sprockets.  You may want to source the OE front sprocket as they are much quieter.

Yamaha parts will be expensive compared to buying similar strength/quality chain & sprockets elsewhere.  VNA makes a good point about the OE style front sprocket which has a damper moulded into it to reduce chain noise.  About £30 more than a Renthal, IIRC, but arguable worth it if chain noise bugs you.

Wish I'd gone for Yam front sprocket - definately quieter than the Renthal.
