Title: FZ1 trouble getting into 2nd gear
Post by: baggy on 06 October 2012, 09:47:53 pm
I sometimes have trouble getting my 06 FZ1 Fazer into 2nd gear. It usually happens when the temperature starts to rise after being suck in traffic.  Any idea what it might be?

Cheers

Sounds like you might have a bit of clutch drag, how many miles you done? When did you last change the oil? try adjusting the clutch as per the manual.

Most likely the clutch cable just needs adjusting.

When you pull the lever in and try to select first does it give an (extra) big clonk and / or try to move forward with the clutch in?

Try holding it in first a bit longer and then do a clutch less change, does it go into second or other gears a bit easier?

I have adjusted it so need to check if on my ride to work in the morning.

It does give a bigger clunk than other bikes i have owned into1st and weirdly sometimes iI cannot get neutral after a ride it just goes from 1st to 2nd and back again. It takes 4-5 goes to get it

I would agree that the gear box is not the slickest from my experience

Thanks for your help, I adjusted my lever so it has the correct amount of play and it seemed alright on my ride to work this morning :).
