Just been on Compare The Market to get a quote for my car as the insurance is due next month and got a reasonable quote so I thought I would see what it costs to add my eldest to the policy. He is 18 in December and passed his test at the begining of August so knew it would add a bit to the policy price but wasnt prepared for what they quoted.
Cheapest of the three that would quote - £15,000!
Most expensive of the three?? £45,000!!!

Just re-insuring my van, had a look at putting my 24 year old on it and "only" a £500 hike.
Yet strangely enough my premium is the cheapest I've ever had. It went up a lot last year but has now come right down - strange. Another Meercat on the way :)

ive literally just added my daughter to the policy which also included changing our car from a "04 corolla to a '07 Corsa.
Hike for her (17 year Learner driver) was £453 until september next year.

Laz, see what they add to teh cost once she passes her test!!
My boy has a 1.2 Fiesta. Cost on that last December was £950 for a year. He passed his test in August and had to pay another £1600 to see him through to December this year!

I do feel quite sorry for youngsters these days when it come to motoring. I know there are some young idiots about but they all seem to get clobbered.
(To save anyone pointing it out I know there are plenty of old idiots about as well :\ .)

Already got a price for that m8 - if shes on our multicar policy as a named driver, the cost rises by roughly £100
-
Jesus, cheapest quote £15k??
And insurers wonder why people don't bother getting cover...
-
£45000 is Insurance Speak. Roughly translated it means "Furk Off"

just about to do the same myself ;) ......daughter is 17 and has her povisional....no quotes yet but think i will have the same trouble :rolleyes trying to get her interested in classics cars as this might be a bit of a loop hole ;) thinking british mini :D

Red, I looked (well he did) at the Auston Mini and the cost was through the roof compared to the Fiesta 1.25 he ended up with.
Do your homework using gocompare or somewhere like that trying all teh different cars. Some of the bigger cars are cheaper to insure dependant on where you live.
