has this been done?
is there any interest?
would it be easier to negotiate peace in the middle east?
go on, shoot me down in flames.
-
Chris (Ghostbiker) has mentioned it alot. Maybe drop him a pm. I think it's a great idea. If it happens, I'll happily be official photographer! :)
-
im up for it as want to do a track day, cadwell, mallory, croft, donny etc be good for me(im from hull) next year would prob be better for me (weather and cash!)
-
Yep can count me in for a track day I think it would have to be one of the midland tracks Cadwell Mallory or Donny to be fair to all .
My personal choice would be Anglesey a bit of a journey for most but a beautiful place and free camping .I’m in Huddersfield so plenty of tracks within 100 miles or so for me .
Getting a bit late in the year now to get one organized though, bugger charging round a race track with me winter gloves on.
-
I do believe in years gone by that track days have been done and at the Anglesey track , there was some looney who a few may remember that had a blue boiler suit on lol , the less well known tracks do work out cheaper too
-
darley moor is a cheap and cheerfull track im told, doest look the best track but good for a 1st timer like myself i think and centralish for us up north east!
-
Tried to organise one years ago. Where we could of had a whole group or the whole track to ourselves.
Mallory was going to be the venue, if I remember correctly it would of cost £105 each(for the whole day, track) if 75 people signed up to it. That would of included all the marshalls, ambulances, insurance, etc etc.
Got about 10 people interested that was it. Initial response was good, when the money for a deposit was asked for most of them had other stuff to do like mend the washing machine or fix the stairs.
-
Also Cadwell was mentioned so I spoke to them as well. They would of let us camp and have a BBQ and a piss up after the trackday. The track day organiser was happy to arrange the BBQ and beer. Again very good initial response but people didn't want to do it after all

This sounds absolutely awesome :( don't think I was a member at the time as would have been right up for this
-
They've been done before. Anglesey was good - we didn't hire the whole track but all booked onto the same session IIRC. Good track for a Fazer 6 as its not got huge long straights, it's all about the cornering. Shame it rained and there was a crash :(
Also with the Ninja club (an ex-foccer turned ninja rider organised) we did the track in south wales - also quite tight and twisty. I was chuffed as I finally got the hang of getting my knee down. There there was enough people to hire the whole circuit. Great sunny day there, a good turnout too.
The club used to be more active though so getting confirmed numbers is key. Pick an organised session and have a core group sign up, then others can join if they want and you don't have the worry of having a whole circuit booked with a deposit down :0
-
my 2pence worth is not to lay any money out for others! maybe get a day fixed at certain track with a couple of members paying for there self then get others to book there self i would maybe say early next spring as getting later in year now,the popular tracks are booked up quick and getting expensive so maybe a small club type track maybe good?
-
Just booked myself in for a brands hatch full gp corse track day in a couple weeks time.
not offten they open the full corse so really chuffed to get a chance to ride it.
-
Was that Llandow Alan?
-
If we can get a group of 20-30 I'll happily book onto it next year.
-
Yeah, Llandow rings a bell. I remember riding with Nooj - him on his Aprilla and me on the Faz. We were quite well matched, great fun.
-
Sounds like a plan,,Wales is a bit handy for me :lol
-
Well if Cadwell is chosen I have a large garden that people can camp in, with an outside toilet. I'm only about 20 miles from the track Then go to the trackday then have a piss up and a BBQ afterwards. Pubs within walking distance(1.5 miles) or beers in the garden.
-
Id deffo be up for this.
-
Cadwell would be awesome. I wouldn't do the trackday, but I'd be happy to take photos etc. Ug, I think that's a kind offer :)
-
Well it will cut the cost of maybe a B&B or a campsite, just makes it a bit more affordable, got nearly an acre so a few tents wont hurt. As long as people dont mind the yokels staring at them because their "not from round 'ere" lol.
-
Would you be happy to organise something Ug? Maybe in spring? It might be a bit late for this season?
-
Two things,
1- outside toilet, umm you lot are not allowed in the house :'(
2- walking distance,1 1/2 miles :eek , was he in the olympics?
Cheers ug :)

Agree with this, Cadwell would be brilliant, loads of B&B's nearby for those who don't like camping! (me)
-
hahahahaha it's not that but in the night it easier to find the outside one and the dogs wont be guarding it.
1.5 miles is ok, easier when your drunk because it dark and you dont know where you are.
But the offer is there.
I'll see what Focused Events say, what they said last time was, "We'll hold the novice group for you, if you dont fill it we'll have to open it up to others".
Each group will have about 40 riders in it, so if we can block book a group that would be ace. Hamos myself Debz Nooj all booked onto a Cadwell event a few years ago and had a good laugh.
I'm happy to contact the organising company to sound out what they will require from us.
-
Just contacted Focused Events, asking how much to block book the novice group or how many riders they require to fill it.
-
I'd be interested in a Cadwell day depending on dates, might be able to convince my old man to some down but he is on an SV :eek
-
ug im deffo in for a cadwell track day and maybe a stop at your 'campsite'! if you need a deposit or if i can book direct let me know ,it be my 1st track day but i deffo want to do it and be great fun, cheers for the donkey work
-
Just waiting for them to get back to me now. By the way I dont have any tents lol. Just a lot of space in the garden.
-
wasnt expecting a tent and id prob stop in my camper or ride home as im only across the bridge in hull!be a great day if can get a few fazers together
-
Depending on when I could be up for this mate, as long as the residents don't mind my scantily clad carcass shuffling about looking for the cludgie.
:D
-
def interested, depending on dates....

You'll be pleased to know there are no neighbours in Aegis range
As soon as they get back to me I'll post up what they say.
-
Ug can you hook electric up to run into your garden? :)
-
Got my self booked in to brands gp circuit on the 19th Sept :)
But I'm def interested in something next year if I am able.

May pop up and see you as I am only down the road, done Indy many times on R6 and R1, but never been able to afford GP and that back straights frightens the sh*t out of me :b
Will come up on the Fazer if we survive France.
-
Ug can you hook electric up to run into your garden? :)
I have an extension cable lol. We can have a bit of a bonfire as well, I have loads of tree branches that need burning.
-
I'm up for a track day, I work odd shifts but with plenty of notice can book days off, my only problem is I think Brands is oop north so all those exotic sounding places like Cadwell or Anglesy a probably a couple of days riding? Ug's offer of camping would be appreciated too?
-
i think a few of us at cadwell(either on track and or take pics)and camping is a cracking idea, its local ish to me(hour and half)but not to others but your never going to please everyone but maybe a spring one at cadwell and late summer at brands?
-
Sounds like an awesome plan but maybe for next spring now for me which is a shame. I did a castle coombe one on the fz1 this year which was fun but that circuit is tiny and i would have been just as quick on the fzs600
-
I have contacted them again this morning about the cost of booking a whole group. It may be necessary to open this up to other owners clubs to fill an entire group. If the cost is too much I'll try to negotiate a discount.
-
So its worth asking our mates if they wanna come?
-
I think so mate, I'm still waiting for them to reply. If I dont get an answer by Wednesday I'll phone them up.
-
Cracking idea. Cadwell is an ace track and pleasant to get to.
As UG said the last time a few of us booked onto a track day we had a great laugh.
Count me in, subject to mending the washing machine and getting my stairs fixed.

I think your split ends should take priority mate. :rollin
-
Right I've phoned up today and got the managers email address, so I emailed him and now have to wait for him to back in contact.
-
I think that's pretty poor of Cadwell to mess you around when they stand to make a few quid. You shouldn't be having to chase them about it! :(
-
It's Focused Events. I'll contact MSV see what they can sort out. After all they own the circiut lol.
If they cant help I give up.
-
seems like a lot of messing from then ug! maybe worth trying another track!
-
To be fair it's not Cadwells fault, it's Focused Events for not getting bsck to us. Lets see if MSV are any different.
We have a bit of time to sort things out.
-
Focused Events emailed back yesterday asking for my phone number. I've supplied it and await a phone call from them.
They said that many factors govern the price without explaining what. I do know from before that track supplier, time of year, also the day of the week helps the cost to fluctuate.
So hopefully we should have some news on numbers needed approximate cost etc.
-
good to hear you got a reply,im sure they will ring you up ,the day of week and time of year will hugly alter the prices! just make sure with them its a nice dry day :lol
-
When a group of us did a track day at Cadwell some years ago, we were all different skill levels, so we all booked with Focussed Events but each individual booked into the group i.e. Novice, inters, advanced that suited them.
This way we could all stay in the same B&B for the social side, and boy was there a social side! lol
Then on track day we could bolster/commiserate with each other and if necessary use the Focussed Events instructors to help out, they are particularly good with track day virgins keeping them safe and showing them the lines with excellent feedback at the end of the session.
I have tried various promoters and always found Focus very professional and safe!Hope this helps, and have fun, Cadwell is my favourite even above Brands which is my local :D

-
Well this is getting a bit stupid, Focused Events sent an email saying they would call, they haven't. Motorsportvision haven't even emailed back. I suppose the next one to call is Hottrax.

that aint good, maybe be easyer to just get a date and each of us book direct with them then saves the hassle for you, end may/early june be good for me and prefere during the week !
-
Having just done the Brands GP Circuit with Ghostbiker, Im up for another, but would have to be after chrimbo now. Would be nice to have some equally powered bikes so I didn't get mobbed coming out of every corner!! :'( :)
-

Not a hassle for me mate, I just find it infuriating that they ask for contact details and don't ring back. I just wanted to make sure we have enough places for those wishing to attend, and maybe a little discount to lol.
-
Just looked on Focussed website and only have Cadwell tomorrow, then nothing for remainder of year. Have done cheap days with them at Brands in January/February, bit of a gamble with the weather and a struggle to put on enough warm layers with the leathers, but huge fun if it comes together, just need to remember to warm tyres up thoroughly before getting too adventurous, as my son found out the hard way! lol :o
Cadwell is best, but three hours ride for me, meaning a couple of nights away, though I have ridden back after the track day, but wouldn't want to do it now.
Have also done Oulton Park, Darley Moor which is tiny but very technical and Lydden, which used to shred your tyres, but last time I went to spectate, looked as if it had been resurfaced.
Hope this helps :)
-
I'm up for Cadwell. I've not take many pics there, only club racing, so some of you lot better be able to catch some air on the mountain! ;-)
-

-
bugger it didn't work.
-
Fail....lol
-
you have no idea how many times the wife has said that lmao
-
Lolol I dread to think what the photo was then!!! :lol
-
Well it would seem that these tossers dont want to ring or email.
-
:( maybe an independent track? Rockingham? Anglesey?
-
@UG... you got the URL of your pic added to the http bit that the "Insert Image" button provides. :lol
Stick it in there clean and it would have shown this:

-
Cheers mate, I'll remember that. Someone suggested just booking on the same day, that might be the plan to go with.
-
Ug...umm...I had an email from MSV this morning about track days. I just replied, please don't send emails anymore, as it they couldn't be bothered to get back to us about a track day. Within ten minutes I had an email from a Stuart Garland

Saying he'll deal with any issues personally lol. I've not replied...Wanna mail him? ;-)
-
Oh he also asks who enquired. I was going to say Ug.....lol
-
Me and rence did ours with No limits. was well run although was a little racer based ( most had track day bikes with tyre warmers etc there was only a handfull of road bikes and only half a dozen actualy rode to and away from the track lol.) and what we thought was going to be a 3 group day ended up as a 4 group day.
But they did have a tyre dealer there and a suspension set up service also instructors on hand.
plus a photo guy and on board vid cam hire place.

I even gave them my real name, its coz I is ginger innit lmao. If you can get the responses from them would you mind asking about the trackday?
-
What's your real name? If you pm me your number I'll ask them to call you of you like? We deserve discount now lol!
-
Right then, MSV has replied and the news is.
1.We will need 30 riders to fill a group exclusively for ourselves.
2. If we get more than 10 riders it is an automatic 10% discount.
3. This year the highest price for a weekday event at Cadwell was £99, so expect about that.
4. If it's spring time next year, their dates will be out soon.
5. We can block book via FOC-U or ring up and quote the club name.
6. The 1st option above means someone getting all the cash from all that want to go and handing it over to MSV.
-
Yay! At last! :)
-
We might be up for a visit. Spectators/photographers only though. Depends on date.
And does Mrs Hedgehog know your opening a campsite on her lawn?
-
You think I'd do anything without her say so lol.
As soon as the dates are out for next year I'll stick them up here and we can choose which one.
http://www.spilsby.info/places/bandb.htm (http://www.spilsby.info/places/bandb.htm) Places around Spilsby to stay.
-
id sugest you put the dates up,pick a date and let everyone book there own place so you or anyone else on here isnt holding the money etc, cant see us getting a full group but cant see wy we cant get 10 or more ,can we book a nice dry warm day :lol will it be a novice group as will be my(and im sure others) first track day, cheers for doing all te chase work to get this far :)
-
I think what Ug is trying to say, is that if we all pay together we get 10% off. If not, it's full price. Maybe someone could volunteer to take monies...big ask, but possible? I'm guessing it'd be money up front some time in advance to avoid drop outs etc?
-
It would mean just the first ten chucking the money in. Then everyone else can just book quoting the club name.
-
great stuf let us know when you get the dates ,would it be the full amount to pay our or do tey do a 'deposit' to secure te place
-
Being a non-track day ever type of person, whats minimum requirements regarding kit etc, are leathers essential?
-
I would imagine they take the full amount and reimburse if you cancel within a certain timescale. If we had a responsible person(longshot I know lol) to handle the first ten bookings and give the money to MSV then that would be sufficient for their discount.
The kit is, zip together leathers, the zip must go all the way round, boots, gloves, helmet.
If you want to do it, take the morning sessions steady getting to know the track, and speed up gradually.
Take advantage of any instruction available, don't try to go over your limits, ride within them then you'll have some spare concentration if someone does something unexpected.
-
best sort myself some leathers then
-
best sort myself some leathers then
tis is the best time of year to buy them ie there much cheaper than the summer i picked my almost new set up from fleabay a couple of winters ago for less than £30,but id sugest you try before bidding etc due to sizes

Wow, that is a result, a lot has happened in the last month, as I managed to write off 59 Fazer 1000 which I bought to replace wonderful Gen 1 1000. Tail pack slipped and locked up back wheel just before Maidstone services on M20. Luckily it gave me warning so I had time to slow down and move to lane 1, then get onto hard shoulder when it started to snake. Had used this tail pack for 15 years and 1,000's of miles on a variety of bikes and never a problem! Anyway it is not more, as it and the contents were welded together and shredded. Haven't shed any tears about the bike, not a patch on Gen 1 and very thirsty, so have found a Fazer 8, so watch this space, as love Cadwell, so may be interested. 8)
-
you aint the only one to suffer that fate ! dek had a similar catastrophic lock up in france in 2006. Luckily he stayed upright and after a new tyre went on his merry way.
count me in fer cadwell in the spring...
-
Still waiting for the new calender to come out. I'll post it up once it's been released.
-
I'm still up for this. I take it we are looking around March / April time?
Ug, I managed to get the stairs and washing machine fixed, so that shouldn't crop up to make me drop out last minute. I just hope the day does not clash with me pointing the shed and getting my front room carpet combed. Subject to that I'm there!
-
I'll be up for this, won't be on a Fazer tho.
-
Awesome... I'm not the fastest rider and have never done a track day, but I would love to give it a try if my bike is back on the road
-
I'm up for being official photographer :) Gringo can be my second shooter...*runs*
-
ppffffhhht. cheeky mare.

I have no wish to know how you treat your "front room carpet". The thought appals me.

dave
how did french alps go ?...and have you a bike at the moment ??

Not sure if they allow camping for trackdays but we'll find out when we get a date set.

Sat or sun's are best for me :)
-
from past experience the organisers want all the money up front, whether its to hire a group or the full circuit. Been involved in both and hardest part is getting the money from people, huge interest then when its time to pay low interest ! Not saying that'll be the case here, best idea is defo pick the date and everyone book on the same day to guarantee the places. Camped at cadwell few times but always chased up by security for £10/person to stop over. Its good though to be able to wonder around the track with beer in hand !!
-
I'm still interested but would prefer it to be abit warmer than it is at the minute
-
Is this still going to happen? Would it be a good idea to choose a date, and then everyone can just book themselves on? :)
