Title: BOLLOCKS
Post by: DILLIGAFF on 16 August 2012, 04:43:12 pm
A mate asked if he could borrow my satnag so I got it out of the garage and left it on the boot of the car while I locked the garage, drove to the Post office...................................................................

Oh BOLLOX

That's a bugger :(

I lost my first one by taking it off the bike, putting it on the saddle, then getting distracted whilst locking on the chain and walked away without picking it up.

The only (slightly) good news is that it meant I had a spare headset, mount etc when I bought the new one.

I thought I had been smart by setting an access PIN code but apparently they are easily unlocked???????????

Yeah, take out the SIM, push a paperclip into the reset hole for 15 seconds and no more PIN!  :rolleyes

What amazing security.

Oh, of course you could always write down the serial number, report it to TomTom or whoever and if the device ever comes in for repair they'll sieze it.

Like that's ever likely to happen...

I can sympathise. I did something similar about 25 years ago...

except it was a Pentax SLR with attached motordrive and 500mm mirror lens. I drove out of a golf couse, over several speed bumps then about another half mile on public roads. The camera stayed on the roof until I got to a roundabout.

Ouch! I hear you say.

I got away pretty lightly as the motordrive took most of the impact. It was destroyed. The lens had a tiny scratch on the hood which I blacked in with a felt tip and the camera had a light scuff which I polished and sprayed. After the paint had dried it got part-ex'd for a Nikon.

If it makes you feel better i dropped my indestructible, waterproof, dust proof camera in the drink inside a sea cave whilst getting chased out by a seal,

Went back a week later on low tide and bloody surprisingly found it,

Water sloshing about inside the view screen wasnt a good sign,

Nor the fishy looking paste inside the hatch where  the battery and memory card was,

Well focced!,u gotta luagh though!

The memory card still worked, got my pics off it

Plus 100 pictures of fishes nobs and a holes ha ha ha!

Apart from the cost the really annoying thing is that it is likely that one of my neighbours found it in the road near my house!
If they can bypass the pin code then the first entry in the menu is my home address so it would not be difficult to return ???

So nice to know there are still some kind and honest peeps in the world.

The woman who found it, about half a mile from my house!!, was unable to report it to Garmin as she worked late so had to wait till the weekend to speak to them.

Collected it this morning and it is all perfect and still working.

A box of choccies went her way...............

Must be my lucky day cos when I pulled onto the main road from mine I got stuck behind a long queue of ditherers but there was a police radar trap set up further down.  :eek :lol

BTW. Turns out she is a plumbing and heating engineer so if any Foccers need an honest plumber in the South, let me know ??
