The rear foot rest mounts and engine end casings are faded and lacquer peeling on both my bikes , Thinking of taking the bits to a local alloy wheel refurbisher . probs a winter project. Any input appreciated

why not buy yourself a polishing kit and do the job(and you have the stuf to do more in future )you can buy cheapish kits of polishing wheels and compounds from ebay,bike shops,autojumbles etc then its just an electric drill and your spare time saves you loads of dosh paying someone to do it for you!

Yeah I brought a polishing kit of evilbay for about £25 came with various mops you fit to a drill and bars also idiot proof instructions !! Small items are fine but you can get carried away and than bigger items take a lot of work and very messy, I secured my drill in the vice and it made small items very easy, well worth the try.
I'm also a fan of powder coating it's very cheap to have done and you can get chrome powder coat so looks polished.

The foot rests are pretty ray to do with Ann old sock and autosol. I think they cone with lacquer on so you have to polish that off first. The black casings of the fzs600 can be re painted with smoothrite aerosol successfully, I've done the end caps with some heat proof silver paint too, others have polished them.

Ta i'll get a price from alloy wheel company first, I'm probably in for a shock !
Think i have tried to re laquer something before and not been over happy with the result.
The end casing in question is on my thou , so polished alloy reqd . Might be worth getting some wire wheel brushes ,so as to do the other peeling bits on the thou engine!

Hey bwizz, how about some detailed photo's before and after? I'm thinking of doing the same things as my engine is tatty and the rear hangers are dull and tarnished.

Using both bikes at the moment , probs be on the winter refurb list
