I have only owned my Fazer a couple of months and it has rained for most of that time , so when I got up to a bright sunny day the plan was a bit of bike maintenance and then out for a good long ride in the hills - but alas not to be !
I have had a slight fuel leak which I assumed was something to do with overfilling the tank last time I fuelled up ( thought it was an overflow pipe thing.I lifted the tank to check to air filter and dry off the over flow only to find the bottom of the tank has been very badly repaired. After a bit of light sanding the bottom of the tank looked like a lump of Swiss cheese.
The tank was full of rust and quite frankly past repair - after a trawl on the net I have purchased a replacement tank - unfortunately a YELLOW one!
I am still on the look out for a black tank if anyone has on.

you'll probably need to give your carbs a clean if the tanks has rusted
-
Spray it, probably cost around £15 for paint and lacquer!

I had a bad tank and replaced my red one with silver. It worked for a bit but I ended up getting it wrapped by a local company.
To be honest im a bit on the fence as to the result - the quality is good, but the colour isnt as close as I was led to believe it would be. Saying "you wont be able to tell the difference" and then being able to isnt particularly good business practice...
In any case, it cost me £60 and I think next time id rather respray it. I unfortunately have very little experience (none) in respraying :(

I think I will end up getting it resprayed in 2 pack metallic black at a body shop - I have done the rattle can respray before but they don,t work well with the ethanol in petrol and I don,t have the gear to respray with 2k.

Well the tank arrived today - and I realy like it and its yellow! so untill I go off it it's staying yellow.
