Title: Indicator Reminder
Post by: MadDogMcQ on 20 June 2012, 11:07:57 pm
Don't know about anyone else, but I find the indicator lamp on the Fazer dash to be quite dim and very low down out of sight.  :(  One thing I definitely don't want to do, is leave my indicator on and give cagers another excuse to knock me off.

So tonight I got a 12v Green LED and made another warning light which will be fitted on the inside of my screen (up near the top). Since my screen is almost black, this will be a very discreet installation.  I only want one LED to warn me that either left or right indicators are on, so I had to insert a couple of diodes.

All dead simple. Once I'd soldered the LED to the cable, I used 5mm heat-shrink tube to seal the connection as can be seen in the attached photos...

Good idea, I'm always leaving mine on too long after a turn.

Mine had already had extra leds fitted although blue, bit too bright at night though.

I fitted a warning buzzer, dead cheap off eBay to mine and the daughters bike. Gets pedestrians to move to LOL
I miss it now I'm on the hire bandit and a couple of times left them
on for longer than I should have.
Will be interested to see if a bright enough in sunlight led will be to bright at night or not. Could be a good idea

I should have pointed out that I virtually never ride at night.

With my warped sense of humour I still chuckle at the reason audible beepers were phased out. It seems a lot of blind people were being knocked down by motorbikes at pelican crossings............ :rollin :rollin :rollin :evil

Now thats a cracking idea, I have found that I seem to be leaving it on a lot longer than I used to on the RF. I totally agree that it is possible this is done because the warning lamp is so much lower on the dash than on the RF.
Any pics of it on your bike please??

I've got a turn alert fitted to my gen 1

to be honest I wouldnt be with out it !

not a lot of cop at motorway speeds and the Led isnt very bright but for town speed its great !

if you dont touch the brake after 20 flashes it bleeps and flashes the led as a warning

touch the brake before the 20 flashes and it holds the count !

night time I dont realy need it !

My 350LC bought in1981 had self cancelling indicators, I never had a problem with them I wonder why they went away?

Bloody hell! If I'd seen that, I would've bought it instead of farting around in the garage. I had all the bits anyway, but if you had to buy the parts for mine it would probably cost about £3.
