The right size!  The ones on my plastic one are about 4mm diameter by about 10mm long and are just self tapping screws.

Don't use just two screws. My bike developed terrible vibration at some speeds/revs and it was traced to a fenda extenda that had come unglued and was flapping about in the airstream. That in turn caused vibes to run up the bars. There was only one screw either side holding it on and the glue in the middle had let go.

I put in another two screws to secure it but they were'nt 10mm long, more like 5mm. I worried that with tyre flex the tip of a longer screw might catch the tyre, and at 10mm the point could be felt protruding.

Mine is fitted using just the adhesive pads that came with it.  They held the thing so tight I didn't feel the need to use the screws that came with it.

tiger seal. used extensively in the car trade and sticks like the proverbial. have stuck a couple of mine on with no problems at all.
