On startup my downpipes 3 & 4 seem to heat up ALOT faster than 1 & 2 i can't hear any blowing of any sort and i've only recently changed the plugs.
Is this normal or would it suggest carbs balanced? Bike runs find and seems to jump 100-200rpm on idle.

There's no blowing AND the bike runs fine ???
I reckon you've just answered your own question........ :lol

Well fine ish, i get no where near the MPG some lads get on here, i average 47mpg and powers jerky sometimes at lower rpm

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust or end can, they can make them a bit jumpy at lower revs, mine does it and i've got 'new' down pipes and an SP Engineering Moto GP end can?
It certainly breathes much better when i give it a bit of welly though with the end can.
I've never really bothered about MPG, if the gauge says half full i fill it up, sorted. :D

True Darsi, ive got after market GP style zorst, after market downpipes, K & N.
would this suggest it likes the nuts revved off it? :rolleyes

Personally it sounds okay to me, and YES i believe they do appreciate the odd thrashing every now and then.......especially with a tank full of Shell V Power on board :evil

It sounds to me like the carbs could do with balancing. I presume you are talking about how hot the pipes are getting with the engine at tickover. In which case it would indicate that 3 and 4 are doing most of the work with 1 and 2 not contributing their share. Carb balancing will probably sort it and you will probably notice an improvement in low speed responce/smoothness as well.

Pre carb balance less than 2,5k revs was very rough but after balancing it will pull from tick over in the lower gears and sit at 30mph in 6th gear. I've also just set my pilot air screws (well 3 of them can't get to the 4th) and now the engine is super smooth at all engine speeds.

My carbs were stripped and refitted by PDQ when i had my new can put on, and it doesn't feel any different even now.
It runs sweet........sits at 1300 rock solid, and that was done ages ago.......still a bit quirky at very low speeds though.
