Title: Recover seat ?
Post by: bwizz on 26 April 2012, 05:21:51 pm
Anybody tried to recover a seat themselves , staplers are not that expensive so thinking of having a go on a spare tatty seat that I have bought. I suppose the covers are specially shaped so I would need to get a specific Fazer cover? I would like as single racing type seat made ideally. Something to brace my backside against
Any usefull imput appreciated

I did a CBR 1000F seat a few years ago and found it best to warm the vinyl with a hair dryer as I went.

Hi  bwizz,  I recently had my seat proffesionaly done by Tony Archer in Huddersfield, stripped refoamed and re covered for £60 .I couldnt believe the quality of the job for that price, with all due respect most DIY seat jobs ive seen look just that. ;)

Jeffco,  is that done with some sort of memory foam? is it more comfortable, as well as looking good?

Hi Dick.(sounds like the first line in a porn film) :lol
Its not memory foam.I was thinking of getting gel padding but Tony sugjested that he strip the seat right down and re build and shape it using a good quality foam.
I asked for it to be more like a Corbin type design and he put the coloured piping on to suit the bikes colour. It is very noticably more comfortable than the standard seat

I got the spare seat modified" as intended" to single race seat style.
This was done by local business in Penzance .£75
I am well pleased with new look, also when riding ,besides having something to rest my backside against ,I feel as i am sat more in the bike than on it. An unexpected bonus !  although it was not intended to be a double seat , my partner likes the new higher position unintentianally created for the passenger
