Start and set off on the bike no problem. After about a mile red light comes on. Parked up for 10 minutes back to normal. This is happened several times this week, and wondering if this is a rectifier problem
-
Get a multi-meter and check the output of the reg/rec and alternator according to the correct values in the manual.
If they are ok, check the loom for damaged wires.
Note that a faulty alternator or reg/rec can kill a battery :(

Will do thanks

Is it the red light in the Tacho of the red light for the oil? does the speedo and rev counter drop to zero?
-
red light on the FZS600 is for oil level - check the oil
-
Put the bike on level ground on the centre stand, start the bike and let it run for a minute.
Switch off, then let the oil settle, that will be the oil level.
Sounds like the oil is too low.
-
Oil ok
-
try putting a little more in. The sensor is sensitive.

Just had a thought.
The oil light comes on when I switch the ignition on but goes out
Before I pressed the starter.
-
The oil light should come on when you press the starter button (its the self test) but go out when you release teh button.
If the light comes on any other time it is telling you the oil level is too low. Put a touch more oil in.
-
Just comes on briefly when ignition is switched off
and then goes out. Not on when I press starter.

Would agree with above, needs a wee top up of oil. My oil light used to come on if i gave it a wee bit too much throttle from the off, but went out a couple of miles down the road. A wee top up and oil light stays off.
Sometimes an oil change can help if topping up dose not help.
If you do as darrsi explained you will probably see oil level in check window about half of window. So wee top up and see how it goes.

Was planning to do oil and filter
next week.
Will see what happens.
