Might sound daft - but you haven't got your clutch switch / neutral switch wiring rubbing together at any point?

You say it was notchy - what age / mileage? Last service? Any recent work? Any other symptoms?

Any fault codes coming up?

Have you lubed your chain recently - overlube can cause that but it usually goes away in a day or so.

Sounds like the problem I had a while back, I think water got into the switch gear and the neutral light would stay on even when it was put into gear.

Eventually it sorted itself out.

Its just water in the electrics, it will stop when it dries out abit.  Mine always does it after I pressure wash it, it stops happening when it dries out  :)

Agree, it's when it gets wet, had the problem myself.
