as my fazer rims are looking abit tatty i was thinking of polishing the rims only and keeping the 3 spokes black, luckily theres some markers to follow on the wheels
I was planning to do it myself with sandpaper and goodold polish.
Is it a massive job with poor results?
-
if the wheels have never been painted get some strong nail polish remover or thinners and rub on the area where you dont want the black paint anymore use some masking tape on the center and after a little rubbing it will go to the steel of the wheel just do this wash it dry it leave it a while then lacquer it to stop rust.
-
possibly get some 'brasso' chrome polish from tesco and do that after cleaning the rim let it dry etc then lacquor may give you a better finish,
-
I would not recommend lacquering the rims, they are not steel so will not rust. Lacquer can yellow over time too.
Corrosion is minimal, just use a bit of autosol now and again to keep it shiny.
Not a complicated job but maybe just a time consuming one to get that highly polished look. My wheels & bits of the engine are rubbed down and polished & look good I think. To get them looking like mirrors it will take time though.

this was my partners fazer after alot of polishing, sanding and new paint job all done with my own fair hands :rolleyes

Nice! Did you do the fork bottoms as well?

Nice! Did you do the fork bottoms as well?
sure did......cam end caps, generator cover, rear peg hangers etc. just a shame i couldn`t get the pi$$ing thing to run right. never mind :rolleyes
-
I've done exactly the same as you - just not the forks yet. Easy to do & keep on top of. Good looking naked conversion, even if it never ran right :)
-
possible stupid question did you take cam covers and gen cover off to do that!!
-
Took the cam caps off to sand down & polish but not any of the engine casings. Mine are not as polished as ade the blade's but I think it looks okay, makes the engine more of a visual feature.
-
thats a nice finish you got there,Fuzzy. nice looking bike. ;)
-
very nice, cheers ive polished my forks and cooling fins on side of engine thinking the cam covers are next, then mayby engine casings ecuse the fingers in the edge of the photo,

Forks look awesome, good job! Must get around to doing mine, they're in a real state.
