Title: White power shock help/user manual anyone?
Post by: Yas1 on 12 May 2021, 11:39:57 am
Hi All, I just bought an FZS1000 which has a white power shock fitted. I can see there are 3 adjusters which I'm guessing are low and high rate compression, at the top, and rebound at the bottom, but I was hoping someone might have a user manual to clarify things for me please? I can't see any markings on the shock to indicate what model it is or which adjuster is which.
Any help appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Karl

WP are owned by KTM. Maybe one of their dealerships could help you out with info.

Generally Rebound is at the top and compression is at the bottom, that said some shock applications/manufactures fit the shock upside down.  Basic shocks have no damping adjustment just pring preload, next comes those that have either just compression or compression and rebound and redound, lastly H/L compression damping and remote preload.  It is also possible to get remote preload on some manufactures whole range and if you've got H/L damping it's usually for both compression & rebound.

Some WP shocks use a black dial/ring that you turn at the bottom blow the spring mount.

Thanks Guys, unfortunately I can't see any model information so I can't use the WP website.
The shock has 3 adjusters, 2 top and 1 bottom which I'm assuming will be low and high rate compression (top) and rebound at the bottom. I'd like to know the recommended base settings for the shock so I can work from there. I think my next option is to call a WP specialist. I fitted a second hand Ohlins to an xr400 and had fantastic support from one of their dealers

Your start point will be in the middle of the range. Thereafter test ride and adjust one at a time. Lots of info on the web, its quite easy to setup yourself
