Interesting, particularly about having tyres that are too good for your riding. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01YlwusCSlE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01YlwusCSlE)

Yep, quite interesting. I think with the advancement in tyre technology over the last 10 or so years, makes any sport touring tyre more than suitable for most real world road riding.

Gonna hijack this thread slightly.
Can anyone suggest a good tyre that doesnt square off as quick?
I dont really cover many miles, around 4k a year, and vast majority of that is around town so I end up replacing my tyres more often because they are squared off than I do for them being worn out 😔
So having noticed my latest pair are starting to square off again I'm going to look at replacing them both in the new month or so.
So does anyone know of anything that's meant to help?

Get a dual compound sports tourer tyre.
Personally I have the Bridgestone T31 which has a harder compound down the centre for motorways etc, but a softer compound on the outsides for twisty bits.
Rears last me about 9000 miles. Front about double that.

It did have the T30s on when I got it, are the T31s much of an improvement?

I've certainly had nothing to complain about with them.
My rear was changed about 5000 miles ago and has had a combination of motorways and twisties on and it's still going fine with plenty of tread left.
