Title: Petrol tank storage
Post by: bludclot on 23 February 2020, 04:43:53 pm

The tank (and plastics) from my CBR are all changed so am going to store them in the loft until sale or accident time. I was considering putting the tank into one of the many vacuum storage bags available cheaply from DIY shops or Ebay, a good idea? Tank is empty of fuel and has two large holes, one for the filler and the other for the fuel pump and filter assembly....

...similar was mentioned on the Gpz site recently, a suggestion was also putting a bit of fresh engine oil in the tank, blocking the holes & rolling it so all surfaces were covered. That would help with any moisture sealed in the bag.

Yep the way to go or you could use ACF50 or something, you don't need vac bags.

I used WD40 from a 5 litre can. Literally washed the tank out with it. It has been sitting 3 years with out issue, wrapped in an old blanket.
