Title: FZS 600 Carb Rubbers
Post by: HarryHornby on 21 September 2019, 10:52:04 am
Hi All,

Has anyone on here purchased those cheap carb rubbers off Ebay?  If so, how did you get on, are they worth the money or is it best to just swallow £70 for ones from Fowlers etc?

Cheers

Had some for an XJR. They were OK but the balancing spigots needed gluing in properly. About £15 and I was happy enough with them.

Second Trebus comment. The balancing pipes come out very easily. I’ve glued mine in but with heat and the rubber moving about they don’t stay in place

Other than that they work fine. Saved me £50.

I bought set of eBay. Cost around £50. And they have been ok. Cant remember seller. But just a wee tip to help when refitting carbs. Use 3 cable ties each side. Loop one round exhaust 1 and 4 , then loop one round carb inlets on 1 and 4 , then one tie between these to pull together. Wee bit at a time working both sides and once carbs are in rubbers the cable ties help hold carbs will you tighten everything up.

@redmandan  That seems to be the main complaint (I've also asked on the FB group).  That does concern me.

@TOM VR45 - Oh trust me, this will be a garage job.  My DIY skill level on the bike is low, and when I do step over my line, this forum gets filled up with tales of woe and much piss taking from Foccers  :rollin :rollin

They are cheap for a reason, I would not touch them. Last ones I bought for the 400 which were the same as the 600 were TourMax, which are Japanese made, Think they were £70 for the 4 and good quality

with parts this, youll only buy them once perhaps during the life of the bike, or your ownership of it, so its an example of OEM for me. No grey areas then

I'm edging more and more to OEM.  Looked on Fowlers but it seems that they want just shy of £80 a pair.  They have the inner ones listed under a separate part number to the outer ones.

Found some on Yambits for a good price.  Are Yambits trustworthy, anyone used them?

Yes, I have used Yambits and found their stuff very good. Much of their carb stuff is sourced from Japan. I think it was here I got the last set of inlet rubbers for an old Yamaha XJ. Have also bought Master cylinder kits from them which were no longer available from Yamaha

When I replaced the ones on the FZ6 S2 Fazer, they were indeed two different sizes. You could confirm this for yourself by looking at the parts schematic on the CMSNL website, and double check the part nos

I got the cheap ones off eaby, had them on for a while now and they have been perfect..

Shouldn't ask why those are so cheap, the real question is why the others are sooo f***g expensive...
