I know ive already got one, what can I say.
I foccing love the bikes. And I cannot get my head around paying five or six times the two grand my bike cost me for a brand new bike, which I wont like as much as a thou, in all probability.
Gonna spend all winter looking for a minter to keep alongside the old faithful.
Anybody here who has such a machine please hit me up.
ta :)

Beautiful. Is that a standard paints scheme? Fantastic engine as well, 👍
-

Anybody still looking for a mint thou.
Shame this is at the other end of the country or I might have a sniff myself. Looks really sweet. Right colours too.

blimey that is minty...
-
Do you think it’s a bit overpriced though?
-
15years,not 6000miles,nah!
-
Very simple answer to it's value. A plug and play bike. If you want an original FZS 1000, try finding another one in a similar condition/mileage cheaper! Worth every penny! ;)

I’d still want to check it over. Check the exup valve is working. Check the EXUP cover will come off, and screws behind that will loosen. Those are two most common issues with the old thou. A wee look at the tyres – they look good in the photos though. A short test ride would be ideal – make sure those carbs ain’t gummed up. But yeah it looks genuine and mint in the photos.
The down side is it’s a 440 mile drive to view. So I’ll skip. I don’t have a van either, and I suspect they’ll want a few hundred quid to transport it to me.
But if I saw one like that within a couple of 100 miles I’d probably have a look.
I think if you really want a nice one, and this looks like a real minter, then 3.6k is not bad. It’s, to me, the right colours too. There might be a few quid to come off in a haggle.
If I did get it. I’d get it home. Remove the AIS. Swap my Ivanised carbs onto it. Pop my K-tech rear shock in. Swap my can on. Change the fork oil and pop some heated grips on.
Then stick it’s crabs, shock etc onto my current old thou and flog it.
I think that bike is a potential great buy for somebody who loves the old Fazer thou.

Mine used to look like this once upon a time;

your bike has crabs? eeeek! only in Scotland are bikes so hard they go out drinking and hoooring…. ;) :lol
-
Sorry carbs :)
-
:lol ;) if I had the money I'd go for that bike and pretty much do the same. A lot of us bemoan the fact you cant buy a new fazer thou, that ones as close as you'll get.
-
I bit the bullet & brought it, just love the old FZS1000.
-
nice one mate :)
-
Congratulations.
-
Thanks guys:)
-
Well wise ! better a slightly expensive low mileage minter than a cheap & cheerful high mileage load of potential trouble, your new bike's hardly run in even if it is a few years old. :thumbup :woot.
-
That’s the way I was looking at it, hopefully years of carefree riding apart from the odd occasion of course.;)
-
yup ida gone for that. Still the best all rounder ever built, and thats as good as new. Nice one dude. And peanuts compared to new bikes. Was reading about the new bonnie scrambler on long term test in MCN this week. its a nice enough little bike. But twelve grand? wtf is going on...
-
But twelve grand? wtf is going on...
B****T bud, that's what is going on :'( .
22nd June 2016 1 quid = 1 dollar 46
Today 1 quid = 1 dollar 23
22nd June 2016 1 quid = 1 Euro 30.
Today 1 quid = 1 Euro 11.
I would guess, if a certain uncouth blond gets his way, you'll be looking at 14 grand for such a bike.
Self inflicted harm.
-
Oh well. So much for an interesting thread :\
-
It’s just reality Hedge.
Worse still new prices drag up used prices.
Plus, if the blonde one gets his way, and the pound slumps, which it will, bikes unlike cars are easily transferable to other countries. I don’t know if there are duties under WTO rules on used goods, but if not, used bikes in the UK could look cheap and be snapped up by dealers in neighbouring countries, further pushing up prices for us in the UK.
We’ve had it good for a long time, but……………
Meanwhile I hope Stew is enjoying his almost new old bike. It looks stunning. I’d have snapped it up myself if it hadn’t of been well over 400 miles away. Enjoy Stew. :)
