Title: Throw over panniers and touring kit generally
Post by: demic77 on 13 June 2019, 11:44:19 pm
I'm off to France for a few days on a WWI battlefield tour in a month or so. I've got a set of old Riossi/Carnell/Motorcycle City throw overs but they are well past their best and I could  do with some new uns. Can anyone recommend a set that fits best on a foxeye 600? Also could do wi a new jacket, anyone used the Oxford montreal 3 or Alpinestars andes?

The Weise Nevada ST jacket is ride recommended and is on offer at £85 from £150 at Sportsbikeshop, I'm thinking about getting one myself. I use Oxford lifetime sports throwovers which fit fine but I need to have them high at the back to avoid the indicators.

I've used the Alpinestars Andes since 2015, when it was the Ride recommended jacket in that price range. Must have done about 40k miles in it, the velcro around the neck is getting a bit tired now, but it's 4 years old. Used it for my jaunt to Scotland last week, still does the job. :thumbup
Might have a set of black Oxford sports throwovers in the loft if you're interested.

I recently bought a set of autokicker panniers (granted they were for a thou). Really well made and inexpensive. Pretty pleased with them so far.

I read that wrong and thought you were recommending panniers that cost £1,000 😳

I presume that the Montreal 3 an update to the 2 which I have. I've been happy with it in all weathers and it recently stood up well to a very wet and near freezing ride in Scotland.
