Title: Does gen 1 do a ton in second
Post by: Stinka on 04 April 2019, 06:11:54 pm
only just started to proper rape this, being my first litre bike. I swear earlier on, I did a 4 car overtake on a twisty single lane A road off a roundabout and as I changed into third as it hit limiter, I looked at revs/speedo and I was doing 100mph  :eek :D :lol

Is this right ? Will these bad boys do a ton in second on stock gearing ?

I dunno but my gen 2 certainly does 😅
I would have thought an ivanised Gen 1 could do it? Not that it's generally a good idea to stress the components that much on a regular basis

I don't really understand why you would want to?

The FZS 1000 will show over 100 mph on the clock in second gear.

Eh ? Who doesn’t redline their bike in second? I thrash the arse off my bikes always have, what’s the point otherwise lol

It pulls like fuck all the way to the limiter, it’s not like you lose power

I don't know where some of you are coming from,I have a job holding on redlining mine in first, second and third and by then it's really moving about with the wind blast, maybe I'm getting old,I dunno. :lol

I’m a big lump at 22 stone, probably helps keep the front down in second, I have to short shift first as it lifts for fun. If I’m “on it” so to speak, as soon as I whack the throttle open I always stick my head down just peeking over the fairing, elbows all most touching knees and anything over 70/80 you need to tuck or you’re getting blown off the bike almost  :b

But yeah I probably change just before the limiter tbf, just as power starts to tail off. Thats needle hovering over the ton  :D

You rape your bikes?  Really?  Whatever turns you on.
No idea, just goes up on one wheel with me.
Tuck in?  Pretty sure I can sit, well normally, all the way up to 140.  Don't tend to go past 140.
Rev limiter.  Does it have one?  And why hit it.  With a can and an Ivan's kit you got over 125bhp from 9000rpm all the way to 11500.If there is a rev limiter, well there is no need to hit it unless you miss a gear.

Just been on first proper thrash with my biking mate on his srad 750. He said I was pulling away from him at one point so I’m well happy with that. It’s a bit of an animal tbh
