Title: Engine a bit clunky
Post by: rocky1966 on 23 February 2019, 03:50:27 pm
Hi I have a fzs600 , 2003 foxeye model. Just seem to have noticed even idling, the revs, fluctuate. And the engine seens a little clunky every now and then, and seems like it wants to stays sometimes, when moving off, and it has a couple of times. It's only done 8,000 miles from new, so a mint bike really. Just about to do a oil & filter change today on it, see if that sorts it out. As shamefully haven't done one in about 4 or 5 yrs. Anyone near me, in ALTRINCHAM ,Manchester. Who could give it a good once over? Cheers if anyone could , or even reply.

In that 4 or 5 years how many miles have you done?

How old are spark plugs, is the bike in regular use i.e new fresh fuel or old.

Could probably do with a proper clutch cable adjustment at both ends for starters.

Sounds like it needs a good service. Maybe carbs cleaned and balanced. Is your throttle snapping back when you let it go or is it getting stuck? A spray of oil will help. Is your rear brake dragging? It should spin free when the bike is on the center stand. If it's hard to turn the rear brake probably needs to be stripped and cleaned and maybe new seals.

Just noticed crack in the ceramic on spark plug. Replaced it, and runs great now
