Title: Oops.....tricky wiring!

Well I certainly don't make life easy for myself!  :rolleyes


Have bought a Koso DB-03R  multi-gauge......now it's out of the box I'm looking at the wiring instructions & thinking I've bitten off a very large chunk of headache pie!


Aaaargh!  :'(

Quite right, it's not as bad as your pics!
I have had a good look again this morning & the Koso wiring is simpler than it looked yesterday evening (I am sober now which may have something to do with it! :rolleyes )
Much of it is showing various ways to fit the RPM wire depending on your bike so can be ignored.
Also, I splashed out on the GPS speedo adaptor so that's an easy plug in fit!
Mind you, there are also endless pages of set-up instructions! :eek

It's the cheapest decent brand multi-gauge I could find but it's a small unit tho' so will look a bit daft replacing all the dials but I may fit the Garmin next to it to fill out the dash a bit!

One wire at a time. Don't try to rush the job.


Draw a diagram of the wires on your bike noting the colours and what they do, then just match up the new wires. If you draw a diagram/table it will be easier to follow when connecting the wires up. It will also be very useful to keep for the future.

Ok Gurus, I need some help please if any of you have fitted this type of thing before....


Q1/  The Koso white wire is for gear indicator, once fitted, there is a procedure you do which means the unit apparently learns your gears.
The diagram seems to imply that you just take the white wire to neg.....can that be right?
Q2/ The Koso comes with it's own screw in temp. sensor, could I not just tap into the existing sensor wire? If not, where on earth is the Fazer's temp. sensor to be found?
Q3/ What on earth is an EOBD?  :eek


Currently regretting very much buying this unit so any advice greatly appreciated!  :o :\

EOBD :  European On-Board Diagnostic : It is a diagnostic or electrical fault finding scanner.

Well, hopefully I'm getting there slowly....according to the supplier the EOBD wire can simply be ignored if the bike doesn't have one fitted, & the white wire just connects to the neutral dash light wire.
Fingers crossed.......... :)
