Thinking of doing away with the fairing and doing a twin headlight job, so obviously will need mirrors. Of course there are the holes available but are the ones on the bars 8 or 10mm and are they the weird threads. Right hand on one side and left hand on the other.

I've been using some €25 bar end mirrors for a while, and they do the trick just fine. On amazon you'll find a plethora.
They look decent and do the job just fine, but beware that they will increase your width by and inch or so.
-
One of them will be left hand thread - easy way to check is to gently try to screw a bolt in.
Plenty of mirrors available for Yamaha's but many come with a left hand thread adaptor that screws onto the bottom of the mirror stem and can look a bit odd, although using an adaptor means you can fit any mirror and not just LHT ones.
I've got bar end mirrors on my Fazer and I think they are great. They take a little getting used to and the actual mirrors I've got are probably a bit too small. For the first few times you ride you will still be looking at where normal mirrors should be. Bar ends are not too great if you do a lot of filtering through traffic.

Cheers for that.

I thought it was strange to read that one mirror will have a left hand thread... I guess it's incase you clip something with the mirrors, the mount will undo, rather than snap off and/or throw you off.
I still have the standard narrow bars on mine amd standard stumpy mirrors because I do a lot of filtering.

It's a Yamaha thing. They've been like it for years and years. Bit of a pain really as no other bike has it and there haven't been loads of negative comments about not having LHT mirrors.

I think I've found the answer to your problem . . .

:rollin I gotta get me one of those. Its actually a look into future as it is not unlike the cameras that some attach to their lids now.

I've got 2 Triumphs with LHT mirrors (on the left side) It's a wind thing, to stop the headwind undoing your mirror.

That's news to me but then I've not had a Triumph.

That looks like a tax disc holder attached to his head.

That's what I thought. Must be so that you can quickly check and make sure it hasn't expired. :)

A lot of aftermarket Mirrors on ebay/amazon might incorporate a 'Yamaha adaptor/thread' - look out for this. Mine did.
This is a small piece threaded both ends however importantly one thread is backwards, so allows you to fit one of the Mirrors the "Yamaha way". :lol
It was forward thinking by Yamaha to feature these handlebar Mirror attachments, IN ADDITION to the original mirrors on the front Fazer fairing. :)

Cheers mate, I have sent for some MT07 style mirrors from M&P that come with 8 and 10mm adapters.
