Title: Multi-Gauge Total cost for Purchase and Competent Installation
Post by: know your limitations on 01 April 2012, 01:41:34 pm
New member and first post so.... hello from me. I have a 2002 FZS1000
I've seen this multi-gauge thingy from the German chap Christian http://cvieth.bplaced.net/ganganzeige_bilder.html (http://cvieth.bplaced.net/ganganzeige_bilder.html) and I'm pretty certain that the world will end if I don't get one.
As my username suggests, my knowledge will not stretch to fitting it myself so any ideas on what it will cost to buy and have fitted?
Also, how long does it take to fit?

Thanking you all in advance...

Not sure how much they cost now, but it was about 1 - 1.5 hours with coffee to fit (very easy). Not sure if any bike shop would want to take a chance fitting it but you could ask, also try small appliance computer repair type shops.

Good luck

Thanks for that. The fitting time is encouraging at least as I use my bike everyday and can't afford to have it off the road for too long.
Just got to find out prices now...

I recently bought and fitted one a couple of months ago. Price was £128 with the fazer logo. Don't know what you think of that price? but if you're going to look at a gear indicator there over £70 just for that and the multi gauge does so much more. fuel, water temp, volts, outside temp drag modes(time your speed, revs gear change points) plus more.
A good handy man(biker mate) who can solder a few wires would be able to do it. It is easy to do. The instructions are excellent and straight forward.

Cheers Minty,
Price-wise I'd been looking to get the Acumen DG8 anyway. I don't do soldering either, so with the plug and play loom coming in at an additional £30, like you say, the cost isn't that much different for SO much more.
I'd rather have someone fit it who's done this exact thing before. I'm in Crewe, Cheshire, and prepared to travel up to a couple of hours or so if any of you fine Foccers would like to take it on (for a mutually beneficial sum of GBP), then let me know (this includes you Minty, I'll take a no-reply as an ever so polite refusal) ;)

Minty,

Sorry for the belated thank-you for your offer to help me out with this.
I'll let you know if (really mean when) I end up getting one.
