hi just drain carbs jet 3 for cyclinder three just spat out loads of yellow crud any ideas on what it could be??
its also in the airbox
-
I think there is an engine breather pipe that comes out the back/top of the engine into your airbox...
Yellow, sounds like a mixture of oil and water..
I've no idea how it gets there as I've not experienced it before... It could just be condensation, she might just want a good run if it's been sat all winter. Clean it up and give it a good motorway run.

any chance of a pic of the crud
the yellow bit has me confused
is it bitty or sludge like ?
-
allass no its been cleaned now and float bowl runs clear petrol
its was definitaley thicker than petrol in air box but it seemed to flow quite easly from carb 3
i will run her till shes warm now and see if she spits more crap

Yep sounds like a bit of emulsified oil. If you're in the habit of wiping down your airbox with an oily rag or giving it a bit of a spray with wd40 it tends to gather there. I've just cleaned some out my airbox this morning! I'm about to give the carbs a good fettle this weekend once I feel confident enough, was it running lumpy? I'll let you know If I find the same in the carbs.

Petrol floats on water so I would suggest contaminated water.

just pulled two rusted plugs out of the 3 and 4 cylinder the are literally only 6 months old what the fuck it doesnt look good one of them seem to be rusted in place
-
Rusty around the top or the bottom?
If its the top, check the crap flap position and the drain holes in the head.
If its the bottom, you have a problem!
-
there is rust all over even on the seal ring..................
i have change coils 2-3 over and no diference its still not getting as hot and i have changed plugs over seams to be really rusty where cylinder 3 spark is all along the thread ..... cylinder 3 spark seems higher than the other................
-
2&3 use the same coil.
If #2 is OK then I would look at the lead to #3 and the cap assuming you have changed the plugs and you are sure you are getting enough fuel through to that cylinder.

Parking on the sidestand for long periods uncovered in wet weather and/or fake NGK plugs .
Water pools in No. 3 and does not drain until bike is upright.

There's a picture or 2 of the honeycomb like residue that clogs up the airbox on here, i have tried but can't find them.

That was after i'd bought the bike, but in fairness when i did an oil change i pulled out 4 litres of oil as well. :eek

The yellow stuff sounds like a build up of fuel over time which has evaporated. If you have a dodgy carb float valve then it will leak fuel (maybe back into the airbox, I can't remember) and that will evap off leaving the yellow oil.
