Title: Bit of a longshot.....
Post by: DILLIGAFF on 05 February 2018, 11:18:32 am
I never met my paternal grand father, family arguments etc., but lately have been trying to locate his grave. I know he died in Hammersmith in 1960 but so far have been unable to trace his resting place.

Any Foccers here trudged a similar path ????

You could try https://search.findmypast.co.uk/search-world-records/national-burial-index-for-england-and-wales    (National Burials Index).  It's by no means comprehensive but you be lucky...

Another thought- contact the local authority/ archives service to see if there are any indexes to their cemeteries and crematoria.
Good luck
Rob

Have you got the actual death certificate? Will tell you where he died - hospital, at home etc etc. That might help. Other idea is local newspapers for a few weeks after the death might well carry details of the death and funeral. Some of these are archived online, but if not local libraries are bound to have copies, sometimes on microfilm.

If he died in Hammersmith, these people may have a record of burials and cremations.
