Been thinking about buying a set of these. Just wondering if anyone else has bought/ fitted them.

I have something very similar but without the 3rd fixing - here

The scratches on it are not from an- off but they have touched down once or twice on some corners/ roundabouts

I wondered if they limit ground clearance, clearly they do. How far over were you when they touched down?

If you have chicken strips wider than 1 cm then I wouldn't worry as they wont touch down.

I've some the same as Fazersharp, they're one of the genuine Yamaha models. I can attest they work, have saved my engine several times after binning the bike. They usually bend up a bit and/or get dented. Rubber mallet can sort them out from a minor off, but still fairly sacrificial from a bigger off. Rather replace one of these, then half the engine and not be able to ride home... On the track I can usually get within about 0.5 cm of tyre limit (Metzeler Z8's) have yet to grind them. Have ground pegs before these mind.

I think the main issue on the road is the camber in places is where they can ground,

I like them because they are unobtrusive and I have "layed" the bike down once while pushing it and saved damage, I think they take the weight off the indicators and help prevent them snapping or pushing through the fairing, its stupid how much damage you can do just dropping it on the spot and the bars could save, they would be an ideal place I think to mount the spots.
Here is a more front on picture - those that you are looking at fit a little higher up the frame as the top bracket is longer than my two point one which you can see on my first post picture.

good looking bike Sharpy, :thumbup The bars look a lot better than the Renntec wrap around type. Maybe a silly question but if you hadn't got yours already, would you consider ones on Ebay?

Yes defiantly I would buy them, I think they are good looking 3 point bars rather than the over the top cage ones.
I paid £30 second hand back in 2004 for mine so the price of those is not that bad brand new and for 3 point fixers.

I am not sure about those as the part number is different and he says "check part number" sounds like he is guessing and I can see the top bracket but dont get whats going on at the bottom, both mine and vinnys 3 point are fixed to the bottom section of the frame via a clamp which i dont see on the chrome ones. Here is the sheet that came with mine

Yamaha did a couple of different engine bar variants for the FZS600. Pretty both are genuine and are for FZS600, just different styles. I think both came in black of chrome variations too.

Stunningly mint! :) You've kept it mostly standard too? Doesn't look like its used for any kind of commuting, too clean? :)
Does anyone do 'streetfighter' styled engine bars? All these, while decent, look OEM and blend in with the bikes contours.

The "Tubing" on the left side (towards the front of the bike), especially the top one, appear 'floating' welded on the end of a long rectangle bracket?... you can imagine this being a weak point if the bar takes some impact and that rectangle piece would bend back, and the tubing ends will push back against the bike frame behind?
They do look beefy though. Probably do a good job of deflecting walls (garage / house) / cars (filtering) etc. :)
