Title: Removed / replaced front wheel, now speedo etc not working - help???
Post by: Jrebera on 22 August 2017, 06:25:26 am
Hey peeps, I changed tyre on front wheel myself (Whoop!), but now my speedo isn't working. I tried to line the drive gear up - but no success. I did notice the cable has a kink - could that be the problem? Any suggestions? Thanks peeps

Not sure why you would have a kink in the cable, but check it's not rubbing on anything anyway.

Most common mistake is not lining up the lugs properly on the speedo sensor rotor, then when you tighten up the wheel nut the lugs just crush and snap off.
Highly likely to be this, but the only way to find out is to take the wheel off again and have a look.

Darrsi is dead right here. It's a bit footery getting the wheel back on right on your own. A third hand/arm would be useful. Take it back off and make sure everything is seated properly. If the lug's are damaged, you can get a replacement easily enough.

Did that on a Divvy. I bought a new ring with lugs off ebay or somewhere but in the mean time silver soldered the old one back together. As far as I know it's still working three or four years later.
