the black engine looks so much better than alloy ....my speed triple has a black painted engine, and its paint seems so much better than the alloy finish on the fazer..which is now starting to look shabby.I cant see me ever removing engine to get it painted, but maybe its time for a slick  treatment ??

Excellent job, just got my Fazer 1000 and was wondering if that was possible, the standard front end is a bit undersprung I reckon.  What's involved work and part wise and how's it handle?

Very possible and not a difficult DIY job if you're a reasonable spanner-man.

Luke's bike in the photos uses Gen 2 FZ1 Fazer yokes rather than modded R1 yokes.  Also, he has the forks at original length in the yokes courtesy of extenders he had machined up.  Retaining the standard height this way will leave the bike steering much like the original Fazer, although the slight difference in fork offset may make a small difference to things.

Fitting shorter R1 legs in R1 yokes really sharpens up the steering and makes the front end much sportier in feel.  I have 5PW forks in mine and really like the way it feels.  Ground clearance hasn't been an issue for me.
